Titans to Face Warhawks in WIAC Championship Bout

OSHKOSH, Wis.- After defeating UW-Eau Claire 82-62 on Friday night, the UW-Oshkosh men's basketball team is set to face UW-Whitewater on Sunday at 1 p.m. This is their third trip to the conference title game in five years. 

In the regular season, Oshkosh won at home on Wednesday, January 11 by a score of 80-61 and on the road on Wednesday, February 8 by a score of 72-68.

Previewing the Titans

The Titans reached the title game after receiving a first round bye with the No. 1 seed and an 82-62 win over UW-Eau Claire in the second round.

Oshkosh holds opponents to league-lows in 62.2 points per game, a 42.4 shooting percentage from the field, 32.7 shooting percentage from three and a 67.6 shooting percentage from the line. The Titans also hold their opponents to 30.7 rebounds per game. Senior guard ranks first in the league with 279 rebounds, averaging 10.7 rebounds per game and leads the team with 403 points. Borchert also sits fourth in the league with a 54.9 shooting percentage from the field. Senior guard Hunter Plamann sits at third with a 43.2 shooting percentage from three, averaging 2.3 threes per game and senior guard Quinn Steckbauer ranks second with an 84.8 free throw shooting percentage. Plamann's 2.8 assists per game is tied for third in the league. Senior guard Eric Peterson leads the league with 45 steals, averaging 1.7 steals per game and sophomore forward Jonah Rindfleisch sits third with 31 blocks, averaging 1.2 blocks per game.

Previewing the Warhawks

The Warhawks reached the title game by defeating UW-River Falls 69-67 in the first round and UW-La Crosse 72-68 in the second round.

Whitewater leads the league, scoring 79.7 points per game and shooting 49.6 percent from the field. Junior forward Trevon Chislom ranks fourth in the league with 419 points, averaging 15.5 points per game, also sitting third with 164 made field goals. Freshman guard Miles Barnstable leads the league with an 89.6 free throw shooting percentage and sits third with a 41.9 shooting percentage from three. Junior guard Delvin Barnstable leads the Warhawks with 145 rebounds, averaging 5.4 rebounds per game. Sophomore guard Jameer Barker ranks second in assists with 80, averaging 3.0 per game and is tied for fourth with 35 steals, averaging 1.3 steals per game.
