Oshkosh Extends Win Streak to Seven; Plamann Joins 1,000 Point Club

OSHKOSH, Wis.- In front of a crowd of 1,041 for the first annual Welcome Back Bash, senior guard Hunter Plamann had a career night that saw him join the 1,000-point club and set three career records. The Titans beat UW-Eau Claire to even the season head-to-head at a game apiece. They also winning their seventh straight game and ninth straight home game. 

First Half Summary

The game started off slow, with the Titans and Blugolds trading points and staying within two of each other until junior guard David Ijadimbola made a three to make the score 15-10 with just until 16 minutes to play in the first half. The Blugolds kept the advantage, leading by as much as six until Plamann made a layup with 3:58 left to give the Titans a one-point lead. Oshkosh then went on a six-point run to take the lead for the final time in the game. The Titans led the Blugolds 36-35 after 20 minutes of play.

First Half Leaders

Oshkosh shot 37.5 percent (12-of-32) from the field, 41.7 percent (five-of-12) from three and 87.5 percent (seven-of-eight) from the line in the half. Plamann scored 21 points, leading all scorers, going seven-of-21 from the field, four-of-seven from three and three-of-four from the line himself. Senior forward Levi Borchert led all players with seven rebounds (five offensive). Senior guard Eric Peterson and freshman guard Carter Thomas each went two-for-two from the line and the Titans recorded a combined five steals.

Eau Claire shot 53.8 percent (14-of-26) from the field, 33.3 percent (three-of-nine) from three and 100 percent (four-of-four) from the line. Senior forward Brock Voigt led the Blugolds with 20 points, going eight-of-nine from the field and four-of-four from the line. He also led with three rebounds (one offensive). Three Blugolds each recorded a block in the half.

Second Half Summary

The second half started with a Voigt free throw that tied the game back up at 36. The teams tied two more times in the next minute, but Oshkosh slowly pulled away with two runs of six points over the next 18 minutes of play to solidify their lead, even with small runs by the Blugolds threatening to tie the game back up. By the time the final buzzer sounded, Oshkosh had an 11 point, 74-63 lead.

Full Game Leaders

Oshkosh shot 41.7 percent (25-of-60) from the field, 40.0 percent (eight-of-20) from three and 64.0 percent (16-of-25) from the line. Plamann finished with a career-high 33 points, going 12-of-20 from the field, six-of-11 from three and three-of-four from the line. His 12 field goals and six three-pointers were also career-bests. Borchert recorded his 36th career double-double, accumulating 17 points and 16 rebounds (eight offensive). Senior guard Will Mahoney led the Titans with seven points off the bench. With the win, the Titans climb to 16-5 (9-1 WIAC). They currently hold a two-game lead over second-place UW-La Crosse.

Eau Claire shot 45.6 percent (36-of-57) from the field, 33.3 percent (four-of-12) from three and 53.8 percent (seven-of-13) from the line. The Blugolds were led by Voigt, who scored 27 points off 10-of-16 from the field and seven-of-10 from the line. He also finished with a team-leading eight rebounds (three offensive). With the loss, the Blugolds fall to a 13-8 (5-5 WIAC) record.

Looking Forward

Oshkosh will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 4 at UW-River Falls for a 5 p.m. tip off. In the teams' first meeting of the season, the Titans defeated the Falcons 68-55, starting their current seven-game winning streak.

New 1,000 Career Point Club Member

Plamann reached 1,000 career points on Wednesday night, and the second player to reach the milestone this season. Borchert joined the club in Oshkosh's win over St. Norbert College (Wis.) on Tuesday, Dec. 20. Plamann started his college career at the University of Minnesota Duluth, playing two seasons with the Bulldogs before transferring to Oshkosh for the 2020-21 season. He currently sits at 1,032 points
