Titans to Host Blugolds, First Annual Welcome Back Bash

OSHKOSH, Wis.- The No. 24 nationally ranked 15-5 (8-1 WIAC) UW-Oshkosh men's basketball team is set to host 12-8 (5-4 WIAC) UW-Eau Claire on Wednesday, Feb. 1 at 7 p.m. In their first meeting of the season, the Titans fell to the Blugolds 51-48, their sole conference loss on Jan. 4 in Eau Claire.

Welcome Back Bash

The first annual Welcome Back Bash will be hosted in Kolf Sports Center before the game. A barbeque-themed dinner runs from 4:45-6:45 p.m. Students with a meal plan can get the meal for free and it will be $9.39 with tax for anyone else. The Reeve Union Board will be offering activities like inflatables, a caricature artist and snacks like snow cones and cotton candy between 5 p.m. and gametime.

The game will have a beach theme and the first 100 fans will receive a free pair of sunglasses. A rock paper scissors contest will occur at halftime with the winner receiving a 50-inch television.

Previewing the Titans

Oshkosh has scored 70.1 points per game and allowed opponents to score a league-low 59.5 points per game, which ranks 10th in the nation. Their 40.7 opponent field goal percentage, 32.4 three point percentage and 40.6 total opponent rebounds per game also lead the league. Senior forward Levi Borchert's 217 rebounds places him atop the conference standings, also leading in each individual rebounding category. Borchert leads the Titans with 294 points, shooting 51.6 percent from the field, 21.4 percent from three and 60.0 percent from the line. Senior guard Hunter Plamann has made 44 three-pointers, 43.6 percent of his attempts, both fourth. Sophomore Jonah Rindfleisch has blocked 24 shots, also fourth in the league. 33 steals from senior guard Eric Peterson sits at second in the league.

Previewing the Blugolds

Eau Claire scores 73.8 points and allows 64.6 points per game. They have made the most three-pointers in the league at 180, averaging 9.0 per game. Senior forward Brock Voigt leads the Blugolds with 296 points, shooting 56.5 percent from the field, 35.3 percent from three and 60.2 percent from the line. He has recorded 43 blocks which lead the league and 137 rebounds (48 offensive), both good for second in the league behind Borchert. Junior guard Michael Casper leads the league with 61 made three-pointers, averaging 3.1 per game.
