Titans Set to Battle Against Eagles

OSHKOSH, Wis.—The third top-25 battle in four weeks for the No. 24 UW-Oshkosh Titans (4-3, 2-2 WIAC) is set as the No. 8/8 UW-La Crosse Eagles (6-1, 3-1 WIAC) are set to visit J. J. Keller Field at Titan Stadium on October 29. Kickoff is set for 1:05 p.m. 

As the league's top defense, the Titans have allowed their opponents 15.4 points per game. The Eagles of La Crosse are the No. 2 offense in the league, averaged 39.9 points per game.

Trae Tetzlaff leads the league in receiving yards while the Eagles' Joey Stutzman leads the leading in rushing yards.

Titans Preview 

The Titans have the second-best passing offense in the league, averaging 238.7 yards per game. The Titans average 356.9 offense yards per game, while holding their opponents to 330.3 yards per game.

Titans quarterback Kobe Berghammer has two top-10 positions in the league stats, sitting at No. 2 for passing and No. 8 for rushing yards. Berghammer averages 234.4 yards per throw (16 touchdowns this season) and 45.7 rushing yards per game.

Rushing the ball for the Titans, Peter MacCudden averages 34.4 yards per game (241 yards this season) and DJ Stewart averages 23.1 yards per game (162 yards this season).

Trae Tetzlaff is a key recipient of Berghammer's throws, leading the league with 88 receiving yards per game. Tony Steger joins Tetzlaff in the top-10 in the league at 54.6 receiving yards per game.  The duo combines for 10 of the Titans 18 touchdown receptions.

Defensively, Tory Jandrin leads the team with 72 tackles this season (10.3 per game). Jandrin has recorded one sack, 3.5 tackles-for-loss, and one fumble recovery, while leading the league in tackles. Carson Raddatz is credited with 50 tackles this season (7.1 per game) while Kyle Scharenbroch (39 tackles this season, 5.6 per game) and Bryce Edwards (37 tackles this season, 5.3 tackles per game) are key defensive members. Brandon Klogen leads the team in sacks (2.5) and tackles-for-loss (8).

Looking at La Crosse

The lone blemish on the Eagles schedule is a loss to current No. 10 Whitewater. The Eagles defeated the Titans week seven opponent, Stout, 42-21.

The Eagles have recorded 456.1 yards of total offense, with a strong rushing game on 256 yards per game. Stutzman leads the team in rush attempts, averaging 113.1 per game. Stutzman averages six yards per carry, with four touchdowns. Keyser Helterbrand leads the team in rushing touchdowns at seven and averaged 8.7 yards per carry. Stutzman and Helterbrand are No. 1 and No. 3 in the league for rushing yards.

Cade Garcia leads the Eagles in the pocket, averaged 140 yards per game. Garcia has thrown for 18 touchdowns this season and has recorded eight interceptions.

Garcia's targets this season have included Max Stubbendick (10.6 yards per catch, 42.3 yards game), Matthijs Enters (11.2 yards per catch, 32 yards per game), and Cameron Sorenson (17 yards per catch, 34 yards per game). The trio have recorded over 200 each of receiving yards this season.

Defensively, the Eagles tally 10 sacks and sit at No. 4 in the league standings. Elijah Alt leads the team in tackles with 36 total this season. Alt had recorded two interceptions and four pass breakups this season. Joining Alt with at least 30 tackles, Jack Anderson and Ryan Daines tally 32 tackles each. Anderson leads the team in tackles-for-loss at 5.5 and sacks with 2.5 sacks for 8 yards. Charlie Kramer has recorded two interceptions for the Eagles, tallying 25 yards.

National Rankings

The Titans hold steady in the D3football.com rankings, remaining at No. 24 for a second consecutive week. The Eagles of La Crosse move up to No. 8 in the D3football.com and AFCA polls, after sitting at No. 9 last week.

In Case You Missed It

Stewart earned national and conference recognition following his performance as the No. 24 UW-Oshkosh Titans defeated UW-Stout, 19-14. Stewart was named to the D3football.com team of the week and earned WIAC x Kwik Trip Athlete of the Week honors.

Stewart had the game-winning touchdown on a 94-yard kickoff return in the fourth quarter.

Recognizing the 1972 and 2012 Teams

Teammates and coaches of the 1972 and 2012 teams will be recognized at halftime of the game against UW-La Crosse. The 1972 UW-Oshkosh football team won the sixth WIAC (formerly Wisconsin State University Conference) championship in program history. The 2012 team won the eighth WIAC championship in program history and made the school's first appearance in the NCAA Division III postseason.
