Nationally Ranked Titans Set To Battle Majors

The nationally ranked UW-Oshkosh football team will seek to remain unbeaten against NCAA Division III programs when it travels to Millsaps College (Miss.) for the nonconference finale Saturday (Sept. 17). Kickoff for the first meeting between the teams is set for 1 p.m. at Harper Davis Field in Jackson, Miss.

UW-Oshkosh (1-1), ranked 16th in the country by D3football.com, suffered a 13-10 setback at NCAA Division II member Northern Michigan University last Saturday (Sept. 10) after winning the season opener, 52-13, at home over East Texas Baptist University on Sept. 3.

Millsaps (1-1) is coming off of a 27-13 victory at McMurry University (Texas) last Saturday. The Majors lost, 49-21, at home to local rival Belhaven University on Sept. 1. Millsaps and Belhaven are separated by less than a mile in Jackson, Miss.

UW-Oshkosh enters Saturday averaging 31 points and 387 yards per game while allowing 13 points and 339.5 yards per contest. Millsaps has averaged 24 points and 283.5 yards per game while surrendering 31 points and 432 yards per contest.

Titans quarterback Kobe Berghammer has thrown for 514 yards and five touchdowns this season, adding 50 rushing yards and another two scores on the ground.

UW-Oshkosh's running game, averaging 4.6 yards per carry, is headlined by Peter MacCudden, who has gained 62 rushing yards on the year. DJ Stewart (39), Nate Smith (38) and Mac Winkler (29) have each added more than 20 yards on the ground this season behind an offensive line that has not surrendered a sack through the first two contests.

The Titans receiving corps features 14 players with at least one catch this season as Tony Steger has a team-leading 10 receptions for 135 yards and two touchdowns while Trae Tetzlaff has added seven grabs for 168 yards and one score. Stewart, Smith and Dan Fynaardt have also contributed touchdown catches for UW-Oshkosh this year.

Tory Jandrin leads the UW-Oshkosh defense with 24 tackles, followed by Carson Raddatz with 12 stops, Kyle Scharenbroch with 11, Bryce Edwards with nine, Brandon Kolgen with eight, and Connor Lund, Bryce Hinn and Daevien Willis with seven each. Jacob Mandella has accounted for both of UW-Oshkosh's two sacks on the year. Richard James and Kolgen have chipped in 2.0 and 1.5 tackles for loss, respectively, for the Titans, who have also received interceptions from Mitchell Borkovec and Corey White Jr.

On special teams, UW-Oshkosh's Nolan Mobley has gone 2-for-4 on field goals and made each of his eight extra points. Titans punter Myles Laurent is averaging 37 yards per punt.

The Millsaps offense features Brody Davis at quarterback along with a quartet of running backs with more than 20 rushing yards. Davis has passed for 398 yards and three touchdowns to go along with 35 rushing yards and one score. Jordan Osborn and Montreal Felix spearhead the rushing attack as Osborn has 43 yards on the ground, and Felix has added 34 yards and one touchdown.

Moise Tezzo is Davis' top receiving target, hauling in 16 catches for 214 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Four players have made at least 11 tackles for the Millsaps defense that has collected three sacks, one interception and one fumble recovery. Thomas Patterson has a team-best 11 tackles for the Majors, who have also received 12 stops from Nehemiah Coalson, and 11 apiece from Jackson Demouy and Nick Ojonta.

Majors placekicker and punter Ethan Klapatch has connected on two of four field goal attempts and four of five extra points while averaging 39.4 yards per punt.
