Justin Kasuboski, WIAC Student-Athlete Spotlight

Each week during the 2021-22 academic year, the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference will feature two student-athletes (one male and one female) from one of its eight institutions for a "Student-Athlete Spotlight" Q & A segment. Why did you choose to attend UW-Oshkosh?
I chose UW-Oshkosh because it was close to home, and the football program was on the rise and competing at a national championship level. My family and friends are close enough to attend and watch our games. 

What other clubs/organizations on campus are you involved in?
FFA.

What causes do you care about?
Keeping the football team at the top of the conference.

What do you like most about competing in the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and being a NCAA Division III student-athlete?
It's the best conference in Division III for football and the competition is top notch. The opportunity to continue my athletic career in a competitive conference and playing for conference and national championships every year is something special.

What is your greatest sports moment?
Catching a third-down pass for 26 yards late in the fourth quarter to keep our game-winning scoring drive alive at UW-Platteville in 2019. We scored five plays later to defeat the Pioneers, 24-20.   

What is the best thing that you bring to the team? 
Being a leader and holding my teammates accountable. Challenging my teammates to push themselves and perform the best they can.

Do you have any words of advice for younger/upcoming student-athletes?
Enjoy every moment it goes by quick! 

What is your favorite thing to do off the court/field with your teammates?
Watching UFC fights on Saturdays when there is a big fight. Watching and talking sports. 

If you could trade places for a day with a person, who would it be and why?
Dan Bilzerian, an Armenian-American actor, businessman, amateur poker player, and social media influencer. 

What is your dream job? 
Playing in the National Football League. 

Three things on your "bucket list"?
1. Skydive
2. Fly a fighter jet
3. Hog hunting out of a helicopter

Do you have any pre-game/pre-event superstitions or rituals? If so, what are they?
Wearing my old UW-Oshkosh football jacket.

What is your biggest "pet-peeve"?
People biting/chewing their fingernails.
