Titans Defeated By Host Warhawks In WIAC Tournament

WHITEWATER, Wis.- UW-Oshkosh fell to UW-Whitewater, 5-1 in the first day of the WIAC Baseball Tournament (Presented by Culver's) on Thursday (May 9) at Prucha Field in Whitewater.

The Titans (19-20) recorded seven hits in the postseason contest with the Warhawks (33-8), led by Braydon Skenandore (So. • De Pere) who went 1-for-3 with an RBI.

LJ Waco (Sr. • Cary, Ill.) started for UW-Oshkosh, throwing all eight innings and giving up five runs (four earned) on eight hits and two walks with eight strikeouts.

UW-Whitewater scored first in the third inning on an RBI single to right center. The Warhawks then added three runs in the fourth on an RBI single, an error and a sacrifice fly to grab a 4-0 lead.

Carter Stebane (Jr. • Brillion) singled up the middle to lead off the fifth inning and stole second. He then scored on a Skenandore single, who later stole a base of his own.

The Warhawks scored their fifth run in the fifth inning when a double down the right field line sent a runner across the plate.

The Titans will face UW-La Crosse at 10 a.m. on Friday (May 10). The No. 2 Eagles fell to No. 3 UW-Stevens Point, 3-0 on Thursday.
