Titans Tame Gorloks In Seven Innings

SAUGET, Ill.- The UW-Oshkosh baseball team defeated Webster University (Mo.) 11-1 in seven innings at Grizzlies Ballpark on Friday (Mar. 1).

Brenden Max (So. • Libertyville, Ill.) hit a career-best 4-for-4, including a home run, with five RBI, three runs scored and a stolen base.

LJ Waco (Sr. • Cary, Ill.) pitched a complete game win, fanning four batters, while allowing six hits and a run.

Carter Stebane (Jr. • Brillion) sent Oshkosh's first run home in the top of the second with a triple to center field. Max homered to center in the following at-bat for an early 3-0 lead.

After Jack McNamara (So. • LaGrange, Ill.) advanced to third on a Zach Taylor (Sr. • Long Grove, Ill.) single in the fourth, he scored when an error allowed Mason Kirchberg (Jr. • DeForest) to reach base.

Oshkosh scored two more runs in the fifth and sixth innings when Max singled and Taylor recorded an RBI on a groundout to second base, before the Gorloks registered their only run of the day in the bottom of the sixth.

Max got his fourth hit and fifth RBI with another single in the seventh. Owen Housinger (So. • Hawthorn Woods, Ill.) hit into a groundout at first for the Titans' 10th run and Max crossed home for the 11th on a balk.

Waco forced two flyouts before allowing two runners to reach the basepath in the bottom half of the inning. The Titans then got the final out when Housinger fielded a ground ball and threw to Stebane for a force out.

The Titans will play North Park University (Ill.) (2-3) and Webster tomorrow at 1 and 4 p.m.
