Scherrman Selected for D3baseball.com All-America Third Team

BLOOMINGTON, Minn.- Matt Scherrman (Sr./Wheaton, Ill.), the starting shortstop for UW-Oshkosh baseball this season, was named to the D3baseball.com All-America Third Team on Wednesday morning.

Scherrman played an instrumental role in UWO's 25-15 record overall and 15-9 record in conference play. The team finished fourth in the WIAC and third in the conference postseason tournament.

Scherrman, who started all 40 games for the Titans, led the conference with five sacrifice flies and was second in hits (67), RBI (54) and doubles (17). The 2023 ABCA All-Region Nine First Team member is a four-year starter for the Titans. He also led the team with a .427 batting average and .720 slugging percentage. His 5-5 batting performance against UW-Eau Claire on April 8 with 3 RBI was a career-best. At the close of the season, he earned his second All-WIAC First Team nod to go with an All-WIAC Honorable Mention in the 2021 season.

Adam Cootway represented UW-Whitewater on the First Team and Bradley Comer represented UW-Stevens Point on the Fifth Team as the other two WIAC players on D3baseball.com's list.

Earning the three major awards were Jack Thomson from Lewis & Clark College (Ore.), Ryar Reinhart from Kalamazoo College (Mich.) and Brett Sanchez from Belhaven University (Miss.). Thomson is the Player of the Year, Reinhart is the Rookie of the Year and Sanchez earned Pitcher of the Year honors. The D3baseball.com National Coach of the Year will be announced following the 2023 NCAA Division III World Series in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
