Titans Outlast Quakers, Sweep Three-Game Series

Kade Bohlman drove in the game-winning run with two outs in the top of the 10th inning as the UW-Oshkosh baseball team pulled out a 6-5 victory over Earlham College on Sunday (March 24) in Richmond, Ind.

UW-Oshkosh (6-6), which extended its winning streak to four straight games, swept the three-game weekend series over Earlham College after securing wins of 8-0 and 7-5 on Saturday.

Earlham College (8-9) forced extra innings with three runs in the home half of the ninth inning.

The Titans outhit the Quakers, 31-27, during the three-game series, including 12-7 Sunday.

Dylan Ott led off the UW-Oshkosh 10th inning by reaching on an infield error. Ott then advanced to second base on a groundout ahead of a Jensen Hinton infield single with one out. Following a flyout for the second out, Bohlman delivered the game-winning hit to right field that scored Ott.

UW-Oshkosh relief pitcher Jared Horton preserved the win by pitching around a one-out infield error in the bottom of the 10th inning. Horton struck out Gendreau swinging for the second out before getting a groundout to conclude the game. The save was the first of Horton's career.

Zack Radde went 3-or-5 to lead the Titans. Bohlman and Jonathan Selchow both owned two of UW-Oshkosh's 12 hits. Alex Koch drove in two runs for the Titans.

UW-Oshkosh starting pitcher Chris Atwood did not factor in the decision despite holding Earlham College to three runs (two earned) on four hits during the first eight innings. He walked two and struck out four. Atwood, making his fifth career start, pitched into the eighth inning for the first time.

UW-Oshkosh relief pitcher Matt Wiechmann (1-0) picked up the win after retiring one of the two batters he faced to end the ninth inning.

The Titans built a 3-0 lead in the fifth inning as Koch lifted sacrifice flies in both the first and third frames. Ott then produced a run-scoring groundout in the fifth.

The Quakers cut their deficit to 3-2 following a solo home run by Danny Dopp in the sixth inning, but UW-Oshkosh answered with RBI singles by Radde in the seventh inning and Hunter Staniske in the eighth to extend its lead to 5-2 entering the ninth.

Earlham College tied the score at 5 with a three-run ninth inning that featured an RBI single from Dopp, who finished the game 3-for-4, with no outs and a two-run single with two outs by Austin Hatfield.

Quakers relief pitcher Domanick Michael (0-1) suffered the loss, allowing an unearned run on two hits over the final two-plus innings.

UW-Oshkosh remains on the road to play at Milwaukee School of Engineering on Tuesday (March 26).
