Titans Play To Stalemate With Green Knights

Trey Demler counted four hits and four RBI as UW-Oshkosh split a baseball doubleheader with St. Norbert College on Saturday (April 26) at Tiedemann Field.

In the opener, Travis Sindles pitched eight strong innings with six strikeouts for a 6-1 victory. The Green Knights (16-13) captured game two, 8-3, after scoring four times in the fifth inning.

The Titans took a 1-0 lead in the first contest when Trent Whitcomb came home on a wild pitch. That score remained until Nick Pierre's game-tying single in the top of the seventh inning.

Demler got that run back during the bottom half, driving in Tyler Kozlowski with a fly ball.

UW-Oshkosh (14-14) put the game away with four runs in the eighth, scoring twice on singles from both Demler and Whitcomb.

Nate Schadrie allowed four runs in 1.1 innings for the loss. SNC starter Kevin Nutley walked eight with two runs over the first 6.2 frames.

The Green Knights posted a 2-0 advantage in the third inning of the nightcap. After Derek Klegin singled in one run, Travis Mason grounded out to plate Nick Pierre.

Kozlowski doubled and Whitcomb singled to begin the Titans' half of the third. Kozlowski then scored on a passed ball and Demler knocked in Whitcomb to tie the contest.

During the fifth, the Green Knights tallied four runs on four hits, including a two-run single by Mason. Alex Larsen followed with an RBI triple to take the 6-2 lead.

St. Norbert added two more during the seventh, with Troy Rottier smacking a run-scoring double to center field.

Matt Sabel (loss) was one of five pitchers to take the mound for UW-Oshkosh. He yielded six runs on seven hits over 4.2 innings. Matt Freeman earned the victory with three strikeouts in a complete game.

The Titans and Green Knights will play once tomorrow at Tiedemann Field.
