Titans Finish Strong To Take Two From Pioneers

UW-Oshkosh used big hits from Robbie Kleman and Tyler Kozlowski, along with perfect relief pitching, for a doubleheader sweep at UW-Platteville on Saturday (April 12).

Kleman totaled two homers, four runs scored and four RBI as the Titans won the opener, 11-7. Kozlowski then drove home five runs during a 10-3 victory in game two.

The first contest saw UW-Oshkosh (12-8/5-5 WIAC) grab a 2-0 lead in the first inning after run-scoring hits by Kleman and Jake Dostalek. The Pioneers (5-17/2-8 WIAC) responded in the bottom half with three runs, including two on a single from Tyler Trautsch.

During the third frame, Trent Whitcomb tied the score with his triple. UW-Oshkosh increased its lead to 7-3 when Kleman blasted a solo homer and Dostalek ripped an RBI double in the fifth.

UW-Platteville battled back, cutting its deficit in half with a two-run shot by Trautsch. A bases loaded walk and run-scoring groundout made it a 7-7 ballgame during the seventh.

Kozlowski booked a sacrifice fly in the ninth to put the Titans ahead for good. Kleman added a two-run blast, and Trey Demler followed with a homer of his own, for a little more insurance.

Joe Pavlovich (win) fired the final three innings, striking out five without allowing a base runner. The loss went to Nathan Fay, who yielded four runs over the last 4.2 frames.

There was no comeback in the second game after UW-Oshkosh grabbed an 8-0 lead through three innings. Kozlowski started the scoring with a first-inning single. Then in the second, he plated two Titans with a double. Luke Gajewski continued the assault with his two-run homer in the third.

The Pioneers tallied once in the fifth on Casey Schroeder's sacrifice fly and twice in the seventh on Zack Iverson's round-tripper.

Kozlowski created the final margin with a two-run single in the ninth inning.

For the second consecutive start, Travis Sindles marked a career-high nine strikeouts. He allowed three runs in six frames for the victory. Pavlovich and Chaz Mohr combined to throw three scoreless innings after Sindles left.

Mike Boushley took the defeat, surrendering seven runs with seven strikeouts over eight innings.

UW-Oshkosh and UW-Platteville take the field for another doubleheader on Sunday (April 13).
