Titans Finish Third At WIAC Championship, Win Four Events

PLATTEVILLE, Wis.- UW-Oshkosh finished the WIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship (Presented by Culver's) with three Saturday (May 4) event wins and six All-WIAC citations.

The Titans totaled 96 points across the two day meet to finish third in the eight team field. They won four total events and accumulated eight All-WIAC honors. UW-La Crosse won the meet with 316.50 points.

Amelia Lehman (Jr. • Oshkosh) won the 1,500-meter run in 4:38.38. She later won the 5,000-meter run in a time of 17:38.97. They her second and first conference honors on the events.

In the 400-meter dash, Maddy LaVoi (Fr. • Ankeny, Iowa) placed first with a time of 57.05 seconds. She became the eighth Titan to win the event.

Cyna Madigan (Jr. • Rosendale) and Libby Geisness (Sr. • Waukesha) collected All-WIAC honors in the 800-meter run with second and third place finishes respectively. Madigan earned her second all-conference mention with a 2:13.11 finish and Geisness ran a 2:13.61 for her first on the event.

Julia Steger (Fr. • Kewaskum), Madigan, Olivia Stenzel (So. • Sturgeon Bay) and LaVoi finished the 4x400-meter relay in 3:54.00 to grab All-WIAC Second Team honors.

After the conclusion of the meet, Madigan was named the Judy Kruckman Scholar-Athlete and Bobbi Blahnik (Jr. • Algoma) was the Titans' representative on the Larry Zirgibel All-Sportsmanship Team.

The Titans will compete at three final qualifier meets in the next two weeks; the UW-La Crosse Eagle Open on May 10, the North Central College (Ill.) Cardinal Combined on May 13-14 and the Augustana College (Ill.) Midwest Twilight Qualifier on May 16. The NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championship will be held at Doug Shaw Memorial Stadium in Myrtle Beach, N.C. on May 23-25.
