Titans Win Three Events At Ashton May Invitational

LA CROSSE, Wis.- With three event wins, the UW-Oshkosh women's track & field accumulated 75 points at the UW-La Crosse Ashton May Invitational on Saturday (April 6).

Led by Jamie Catania (So. • Fond du Lac), the Titans placed six runners in the top eight in the 5,000-meter run. Catania took third in 19:08.12, Gwen Feitl (So. • Wheaton, Ill.) ran a 19:32.67 for fourth, Emma Maly (Fr. • Clinton) ran a 20:28.27 for sixth, Liv Schwarm (Jr. • Madison) finished in 20:33.23 for seventh and Allison Van Der Wegen (Fr. • Kaukauna) took eighth in 20:50.43.

Amelia Lehman (Jr. • Oshkosh) finished the 1,500-meter run in 4:39.18, placing second.

Maddy LaVoi ran the 11th-fastest 400-meter dash in program history and won the event in 57.73 seconds. Julia Steger (Fr. • Kewaskum) also placed in the 400, running a 59.07 for fourth place.

The Titans won their second event of the day as Libby Geisness (Sr. • Waukesha) finished the 800-meter run in 2:16.16. Adriana Garcia (Fr. • Green Bay) and Josie Makurat (So. • Fairfax, Va.) took seventh and eighth in 2:24.00 and 2:25.88 respectively.

A mainstay in the throwing events, Brenna Masloroff (Sr. • Franklin) won the shot put with a cast of 13.77 meters and threw the hammer 53.37 meters for second place. She moved up to 17th in program history in the shot put and 15th in the hammer throw.

Bobbi Blahnik (Jr. • Algoma) placed sixth in the hammer throw with a 48.69-meter mark.

The Titans return to action on Friday and Saturday (April 12-13) for the UW-Platteville Invitational. Events are to begin at 6 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. on Saturday.
