Titans Host Annual Alumni & Friends Invitational

OSHKOSH, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh women's track & field team won 11 events in the Dave Weidemann Alumni & Friends Invitational at the Kolf Sports Center on Saturday (Jan. 27).

Lawrence University, coached by UW-Oshkosh alum Jason Fast, also competed in the meet.

Gracie Buchinger (So. • Kimberly) led the Titans in the 3,000-meter run with a 10:45.25 finish. Gwen Feitl (So. • Wheaton, Ill.) and Jamie Catania (So. • Fond du Lac) recorded times of 11:18.06 and 11:24.67, respectively.

Meygan Benzing (Sr. • Juneau) won the mile run with a time of 5:21.11. After two Vikings grabbed second and third, Olivia Stenzel (So. • Sturgeon Bay) finished fourth with a 5:36.20 and Zoe Watson (Fr. • Kiel) collected fifth in  5:40.16.

The Titans swept all top-eight places in the 400-meter dash, led by Cyna Madigan (Jr. • Rosendale) with a 1:00.15. Julia Steger (Fr. • Kewaskum) finished second with a time of 1:00.94 and Megan Hunt (Jr. • Lemont, Ill.) ran a 1:02.56 for third place. Libby Geisness (Sr. • Waukesha), Ava Pardo (Fr. • Oswego), Jayda Dobeck (Jr. • Green Bay), Emily Zielinski (So. • Milwaukee) and Anna Bubolz (Sr. • Fremont) rounded out the top-eight.

Andrea Glaz (Jr. • Oak Creek) placed first in the 60-meter dash, racing a 7.95. Following her were Ella Ahlstrand (Fr. • Plymouth) with a 7.98 time and Courtney Kufahl's (So. • Appleton) 8.44.

Amelia Lehman (Jr. • Oshkosh) claimed a first-place 800-meter run finish with a 2:24.75 time.

UW-Oshkosh took the top-eight positions again in the 200-meter dash, led by Maddy LaVoi (Fr. • Ankeny, Iowa). LaVoi ran a 26.34, followed in second and third by Steger in 27.25 seconds and Dobeck in 27.32 seconds. Devin Hable (Jr. • Oshkosh), Zielinski, Madigan, Pardo and Geisness took fourth through eighth.

Geisness, Stenzel, Adriana Garcia (Fr. • Green Bay) and Madigan combined for a first-place time of 4:04.46 in the 4x400-meter relay. Ahlstrand, LaVoi, Glaz and Hable took second (4:22.26) and Buchinger, Maddie Bertram (Jr. • Winnebago, Ill.), Allison Van Der Wegen (Fr. • Kaukauna) and Watson finished third (4:25.75).

In the long jump, UW-Oshkosh jumpers claimed the first six spots with marks of at least 4.65 meters. Hunt took first, jumping 5.71 meters. Alexa Gordee (Fr. • Appleton) jumped 5.27 meters and Bubolz had a best jump of 5.21 meters. Steger, Vanessa Jenneman (Sr. • Bloomer) and Aimee Footit (So. • Oshkosh) took fourth through sixth.

Gordee won the triple jump at 10.76 meters. Haley Kanitz (So. • Menomonee Falls) finished third in the event with a best try of 10.01 meters.

Footit placed second in the high jump with a 1.50-meter mark. Emerson Clark (Fr. • Ladysmith) jumped 1.45 meters for third and Halle Meyer took fourth with a 1.40-meter jump.

Kanitz placed first in the pole vault with a best height of 3.02 meters and Nina Lattuca (Jr. • Schiller Park, Ill.) took second at 2.67 meters.

Brenna Masloroff (Sr. • Franklin) threw 13.64 meters in the shot put to win the event and move up to 18th in program history. Brooklyn Manz (Fr. • Kiel) and Bobbi Blahnik (Jr. • Algoma) finished second and third with marks of 11.95 and 11.50 meters, respectively.

Masloroff also won the 20-lb. weight throw, throwing 17.87 meters, which currently ranks fourth in the nation. Blahnik threw 14.89 meters for second place, Abi Masloroff (Fr. • Franklin) finished third with a 13.06-meter cast and Manz took fourth by throwing 11.48 meters.

The Titans will travel to two meets next Saturday (Feb. 3), the Olivet Nazerene University (Ill.) Walter Cramer Invitational and Ripon College Red Hawk Invite.
