Hunt Slays Records At Early Bird Invite

OSHKOSH, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh women's track & field team captured 12 events in the Early Bird Open hosted at Kolf Sports Center on Friday and Saturday (Dec. 8-9).

Megan Hunt (Jr. • Lemont, Ill.) set a school and facility record with her performance of 5.92 meters in the long jump. She also scored 3,357 points in the pentathlon, a personal best and the fourth-highest score in school history. She ran the 60-meter hurdles in 9.27 seconds, hit 1.53 meters in the high jump, threw 10.07 meters in the shot put, marked 5.60 meters in the long jump, and finished the 800-meter run in 2:38.91. Hunt placed first in two out of the five events.

Ella Ahlstrand (Fr. • Plymouth) led the Titans in the 60-meter dash with a third place, 7.96-second finish.

UW-Oshkosh swept the top-three spots in the 200-meter dash. Maddy LaVoi (Fr. • Ankey, Iowa) finished in 26.48, Ahlstrand grabbed a 26.90 and Julia Steger (Fr. • Kewauskum) ran a 26.97.

Titans claimed first and third in the 400-meter dash, with LaVoi finishing in 58.98 seconds for first and Olivia Stenzel (So. • Sturgeon Bay) in 1:00.68 for third. LaVoi's time was good for 17th in school history.

Cyna Madigan (Jr. • Rosendale) led the Titans in the 800-meter run after running a 2:13.89 for a first place finish, followed by Meygan Benzing (Sr. • Juneau) in 2:20.78.

In the mile run, Paige Hagner (So. • Darien, Ill.) finished in second with a time of 5:35.68 followed by Amelia Lehman (Jr. • Oshkosh) in 5:38.33.

Josie Makurat (So. • Fairfax, Va.) led UW-Oshkosh with a first-place finish of 10:35.55 in the 3,000-meter run. Gracie Buchinger (So. • Kimberly) finished in 10:52.56 for a third place finish.

In the 5,000-meter run, Gwen Feitl (So. • Wheaton, Ill.) finished third with a time of 19:05.16.

Libby Geisness (Sr. • Waukesha), Benzing, Stenzel, and Madigan won the 4x400 meter relay by finishing in 4:05.17.

As the only competitor in the high jump, Aimee Footit (So. • Oshkosh) won with a height of 1.46 meters and in the pole vault, Haley Kanitz (So. • Menomonee Falls) finished in third with a height of 3.35.

In the triple jump, Kanitz and Alexa Gordee (Fr. • Appleton) finished in second and third with distances of 10.92 and 10.78 meters.

Brenna Masloroff (Sr. • Franklin) was third for the Titans in the shot put with a distance of 13.14 meters and first in the weight throw with a distance of 17.45 meters.

The Titans return to action on Saturday, Jan. 20 to compete in the UW-Whitewater Karl Schlender Invitational.
