Titans Win Two Events at Dick & Mary Johnson Invitational

EAU CLAIRE, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh women's track and field team won two events at the unscored UW-Eau Claire Dick & Mary Johnson Invitational on Friday (April 28).

Track Event Results

Freshman Josie Makurat won the 3,000-meter steeplechase, running personal record and team season best 11:42.06, which also ranks as the 17th fastest time in program history. Freshman Gracie Buchinger took third with an 11:55.08 and sophomores Katelyn Puetz and Julia Strasser and freshman Ella Galaszewski took five through seventh.

The 4x100-meter relay squad finished second in 48.51 seconds, the fastest time by a Titan squad this season.

In the 100-meter dash, sophomore Devin Hable and junior Liz Hren finished fourth and seventh with times of 12.77 and 12.94 seconds, respectively.

Junior Meygan Benzing ran the 400-meter hurdles in 1:09.88, which is the fastest Titan time this season. Jayda Dobeck, a sophomore, took eighth with a 1:14.23 finish.

Senior Kyra Huber placed fourth in the 200-meter dash with a 26.66 second finish.

UWO freshmen took sixth through eighth in the 1,500-meter run. Gwen Feitl ran a 5:14.08, Grace Riedl ran a 5:14.40, Devon Tomas ran a 5:16.26 and Katie Krause ran a 5:20.65.

In the 4x400-meter relay, the Titans took second with a 4:10.85 and fourth with a 5:02.24.

Freshman Jamie Catania led Oshkosh in the 5,000-meter run with a fifth place, 20:04.08 time. Freshman MacKenzie Dix took sixth in 20:35.27 and sophomore Liv Schwarm took seventh in 20:54.11.

Field Event Results

Senior Mikayla Jackson won the high jump with a height of 5' 1 1/4" (1.58m), the highest jump on the team this season.

Junior Vanessa Jenneman took sixth with a 16' 5 3/4" (5.02m) jump in the long jump. Freshman Haley Kanitz finished the triple jump with a 35' 9 1/4" (10.90m) distance, good for fifth place.

In the javelin throw, senior Katie Fruth finished with a best cast of 105' 9" (32.24m) for eighth place. The mark is the furthest throw by a Titan this season.
