Titans Place Fifth at Ashton May Invite

OSHKOSH, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh women's track and field team placed fifth of sixth teams at the UW-La Crosse Ashton May Invitational on Friday (April 7), scoring 70 points.

Track Event Results

In the 100-meter finals, senior Rachel Castelli led Oshkosh with a fifth place, 12.55 second finish. Sophomore Molly Greeninger took ninth in 12.65 seconds.

Castelli placed fourth in the 200-meter dash, running in 26.13. Sophomore Liz Hren finished 14th with a time of 27.06.

Sophomore Alaina Wagner took 12th in the 400-meter dash (1:02.07). Freshman Olivia Stenzel grabbed 1:03.38 for 17th, senior Erika Mullen finished 18th in 1:04.04 and junior Anna Bubolz took 19th in 1:04.71.

Junior Libby Geisness finished the 800-meter run with a second place, 2:16.58 time. Freshman Josie Makurat followed in fourth, running a 2:18.72. Sophomore Paige Hagner and freshman Jamie Catania took 16th and 17th with times of 2:34.50 and 2:37.06, respectively.

In the 1,500-meter run, sophomore Amelia Lehman led Oshkosh in second with a time of 4:36.81.

Freshman Gwen Feitl grabbed sixth in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 19:38.06. Seniors Lauren Urban (19:46.57), Tricia Cich (19:51.68) and Sydney Fricke (20:22.76) took eighth, ninth and 11th.

As the only Titan to compete in the 400-meter hurdles, sophomore Jayda Dobeck took 11th with a time of 1:16.54.

Junior Meygan Benzing, also the only Oshkosh runner in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, took fifth, finishing in 11:46.45.

The 4x400-meter relay team ran a 4:03.33, placing fourth.

Field Event Results

Freshman Haley Kanitz took 14th in the pole vault with a mark of 9' 10 1/2" (3.01m). Senior Taylor Christensen followed in 16th, vaulting 9' 4 1/2" (2.86m).

In the long jump, sophomore Megan Hunt grabbed eighth with a mark of 17' 2 1/4" (5.24m). Bubolz finished with a 16' 7 3/4" (5.07m) for 10th. Castelli took 18th with a jump of 15' 4" (4.67m) and junior Vanessa Jenneman took 19th with a jump of 15' 2 1/4" (4.63m).

Kanitz also placed in the top-20 in the triple jump, marking 34' 1 1/2" (10.40m).

Junior Brenna Masloroff grabbed a seventh place finish in the shot put, casting 39' 8" (12.09m). Senior Katie Fruth followed in eighth with a mark of 39' 4" (11.99m). Junior Micky Barrette and senior Mikayla Jackson took 18th and 19th, throwing 33' 6" (10.21m) and 33' 1 3/4" (10.10m), respectively. 

Barrette led Oshkosh with a 124' 6" (37.95m) cast in the discus throw for seventh place.

Masloroff took third in the hammer throw, throwing a best 168' 7" (51.39m), followed in 11th by sophomore Bobbi Blahnik with a mark of 144' 9" (44.13m) and Fruth in 16th with a mark of 127' 7" (38.88m).

Looking Forward

The Titans will return to action on Friday April 14 to compete in the two-day UW-Platteville Invitational. Events will begin at 5 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. on Saturday.
