Titans Take First in Season-Opening Meet in Ripon

RIPON, Wis.- The UW-Oshkosh women's indoor track and field team scored 234 points in a win in the Ripon College (Wis.) Winter Open on Dec. 2nd and 3rd. The Titans took first in seven of the 18 events.

Viterbo University (Wis.) took second with 132 points, St. Norbert College (Wis.) took third with 106.5 points, Carroll University (Wis.) took fourth with 71 points, Edgewood College (Wis.) and Ripon were tied for fifth with 29 points, and Concordia University (Wis.) took seventh with 28.5 points.

Six of the top eight 60-meter dash finishes were Titans. Rachel Castelli took first with a time of 7.89 seconds. Andrea Glaz finished in second with 7.90, Molly Greeninger took third with 7.98, and Mikayla Jackson rounded out the top-five with a time of 8.05. Liz Hren took seventh and Kyra Huber took eighth. Glaz and Castelli each set personal records.

Castelli took the 200-meter dash crown with a time of 26.44. Jackson took second (26.54), Glaz took third (26.55) and Hren took fifth (26.98). Huber and Greeninger followed, rounding out the top-eight.

Oshkosh took the top five spots in the 400-meter dash. Alaina Wagner took first with a time of 1:01.63, followed by Olivia Stenzel (1:02.90), Vanessa Jennemann (1:04.08), Erika Mullen (1:05.69) and Jayda Dobeck (1:05.72).

Cyna Madigan won the 800-meter run with a time of 2:14.13. Katelyn Puetz finished in ninth.

Edgewood won the one-mile run, but the Titans took six of the following seven places. Josie Makurat finished in second (5:19.97), Meygan Benzing finished in third (5:27.37) and Gracie Buchinger finished in fourth (5:45.23). Paige Hagner, Puetz and Ella Galaszewski took sixth, seventh and eighth.

Amelia Lehman grabbed the 3,000-meter crown with a time of 10:11.80. Lauren Urban finished in third (11:15.95), followed by Gwen Feitl in sixth (11:22.63), Sydney Fricke in seventh (11:25.15) and Devon Tomas in eighth (11:37.99). Tricia Cich took tenth. 

Oshkosh took the 4x400-meter relay with a time of 4:19.32.

Jennemann took third in the long jump with a distance of 4.81 meters (15-09.50).

Haley Kanitz took third with a top jump of 10.66 meters (34-11.75) in the triple jump. Alaina Wagner took sixth with a 9.23-meter (30-03.50) jump.

Kanitz finished in fourth in the pole vault with a top height of 3.18 meters (10-05.25). Taylor Christensen took eighth with a height of 2.88 meters (9-05.25).

Brenna Masloroff took second in the shot put with a top throw of 13.51 meters (44-04.00), followed by a third-place finish by Katie Fruth (12.95 meters (42-06.00)).

Masolorff took first in the 20-lb. weight throw with a throw of 17.07 meters (56-00.00). Fruth took third with a throw of 14.79 meters (48-06.25) and Bobbi Blahnik took fourth with a 14.64-meter (48-00.50) throw.

The Titans return home on Dec. 10th for the annual UW-Oshkosh Early Bird Invitational.
