Titans Compete At Drake Relays, UW-Whitewater Meet

The UW-Oshkosh women's track & field team was represented Thursday (April 28) at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa, and Friday (April 29) at the UW-Whitewater Drake Alternative Meet.

At the prestigious Drake Relays, UW-Oshkosh's Alexandria Demco finished fourth among 27 participants in the Unseeded University/College Division 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:27.14 that ranks third in the NCAA Division III this outdoor season and fifth in UW-Oshkosh history. Kelby Anderson of the University of North Dakota won the race with a time of 4:23.31.

At the UW-Whitewater Drake Alternative Meet, Demco won the 800- and Amelia Lehman the 1,500-meter runs to pace the Titans.

Demco recorded this season's 22nd fastest Division III time in the 800-meter run with her winning performance of 2:13.12. She defeated 36 other runners, including UW-Oshkosh's Libby Geisness who finished second with a time of 2:15.69.

Lehman finished first among 42 runners in the 1,500-meter run with her time of 4:53.28. UW-Platteville's Kirstie Ramsey placed second to Lehman with a time of 4:53.58.

Meygan Benzing, Brenna Masloroff and Cara Volz each contributed a pair of top-six performances for UW-Oshkosh.

Benzing finished second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase and fifth in the 400-meter hurdles with times of 11:38.92 and 1:11.92, respectively, while Masloroff placed sixth in both the shot put and hammer throw with measurements of 41-3 3/4 and 164-7, respectively. Volz finished second in the javelin with a distance of 125-11 and fourth in the triple jump with a skip of 35-5 1/4.

The Titans also received a third-place time of 13.06 in the 100-meter dash from Emma Warr, sixth-place time of 1:01.51 in the 400-meter run from Alaina Wagner, seventh-place measurement of 41-3 in the shot put from Katie Fruth and an eighth-place time of 26.54 seconds in the 200-meter dash from Mikayla Jackson.

UW-Oshkosh finished second and third in the 400-meter relay with times of 48.75 and 50.21 seconds, respectively, and third and fourth in the 1,600-meter relay with times of 4:40.77 and 5:00.67, respectively.

No team scores were kept at the Drake Relays or the UW-Whitewater Drake Alternative Meet.

UW-Oshkosh performs at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship (presented by Culver's) next Friday and Saturday (May 6-7) in La Crosse. The 11-time WIAC champion Titans finished fourth at the 2021 league championship with 101 points.
