Six Titans To Perform At NCAA Championships

Alexandria Demco, Riley Kindt and Brenna Masloroff will represent UW-Oshkosh in two events apiece at this weekend's NCAA Division III Women's Indoor Track & Field Championships in Winston-Salem, N.C.

Competition in the 36th edition of the championships is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. (CST) Friday (March 11) and 10 a.m. (CST) Saturday (March 12) from the JDL Fast Track.

The top 20 individuals and 12 relay teams earned their way to the national meet based on results throughout the season. The top eight finishers in each event at the championship will receive All-America status.

Demco is seeded fourth in the mile run with a qualifying time of 4:55.34 from the UW-Whitewater Midwest ELITE Invitational held Feb. 12. She won the event with a time of 5:01.26 at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championship held Feb. 25-26 in Platteville. Ella Baran of Johns Hopkins University (Md.) is the top seed in the mile run for the Division III Championships with a time of 4:43.31. 

Demco will also race with teammates Libby Geisness, Hannah Lohrenz and Cyna Madigan in the distance medley relay at this year's championships. The quartet is seeded second with a qualifying time of 11:42.03 from the Wartburg College (Iowa) NCAA Final Qualifier held March 4-5. The foursome won the relay at the WIAC Championship with a time of 11:57.65. Wartburg College is the top seed in the distance medley relay for the Division III Championships with a time of 11:40.13.

Kindt is seeded fourth in the long jump with a qualifying measurement of 19-2 1/2 from the UW-Whitewater Midwest ELITE Invitational and sixth in the 60-meter hurdles with a school-record and victorious qualifying time of 8.64 seconds from the WIAC Championship. She also was a fourth-place finisher in the long jump at the league meet. Isabel Maletich of University of Chicago (Ill.) is the top seed in the long jump for the Division III Championships with a distance of 19-6 3/4 while Kelsie Sealock of Bethel University (Minn.) is the top seed in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.56 seconds.

Masloroff is seeded 17th in the 20-pound weight throw with a qualifying mark of 57-7 3/4 from the WIAC Championship and 19th in the shot put with a qualifying distance of 44-0 from the Ripon College NCAA Final Qualifier on March 4-5. She was a second-place finisher in the 20-pound weight throw at the WIAC Championship. Chelsea Yang of Rhode Island College is top seed in the 20-pound weight throw for the Division III Championships with a measurement of 62-7 3/4 while Skye Digman of UW-La Crosse is the top seed in the shot put with a toss of 49-1 1/2.

Williams College (Mass.) is the defending national champion after the 2020 and 2021 Division III Championships were canceled due to the global coronavirus pandemic. The Ephs won the 2019 title with 42 points to slip past the 40 of second-place Washington University in St. Louis (Mo.).

UW-Oshkosh, which owns a Division III-record nine national titles, finished 27th in the team competition at the 2019 NCAA championships with nine points. The Titans have scored at least three points at each of the past 34 national meets.

UW-Oshkosh claimed its national titles in 1994, 1995, 1996, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2011, 2013 and 2014. No other Division III school has won more than six team championships. The Titans also produced a record seven national runner-up finishes in 1990, 1991, 1992, 2002, 2010, 2012 and 2015.
