UW-Oshkosh Wins Three Events, Places Third At Titan Challenge

The nationally ranked UW-Oshkosh women's track & field team won three events and totaled 13 top eight finishes to place third among 14 programs at the Titan Challenge Saturday (Feb. 19) in Kolf Sports Center.

UW-Oshkosh, ranked 10th in the NCAA Division III Indoor Rating Index calculated by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, scored 71.5 points to finish behind UW-Eau Claire's first-place amount of 125 and 21st-ranked UW-Stout's second-place sum of 92. 

St. Norbert College finished fourth in the team standings with 64 points while Carthage College and UW-Stevens Point shared fifth place with 42.

Winning events for the Titans were Alexandria Demco, Amelia Lehman and Cyna Madigan

Demco was the only contestant in the 1,000-meter run and she etched a UW-Oshkosh record in the event with her time of 2:52.85. Her performance broke the previous school mark of 2:58.44 established by Laura Horejs in 1991.

Lehman defeated 48 other challengers with her winning time of 5:08.63 in the mile run. St. Norbert College's Joyana Tarsa finished second in the race with a time of 5:10.95.

Madigan outran 44 other opponents in the 800-meter run with her victorious time of 2:16.09. UW-Oshkosh's Libby Geisness placed second in the event with a time of 2:18.98. 

The Titans also had two placewinners in the 60-meter dash as Molly Greeninger finished fourth with a time of 7.96 seconds and Kyra Huber fifth at 7.99.

UW-Oshkosh's Brenna Masloroff placed seventh in two field events – the shot put with a toss of 41-10 and the 20-pound weight throw with a mark of 51-0 3/4.

UW-Oshkosh additionally received a third-place height of 11-0 1/4 in the pole vault from Emma Warr, a fifth-place time of 1:01.56 in the 400-meter run from Alaina Wagner, a fifth-place distance of 17-6 3/4 in the long jump from Vanessa Jenneman and an eighth-place leap of 4-11 1/2 in the high jump from Megan Hunt.

The Titans' 1,600-meter relay team Geisness, Lehman, Madigan and Meygan Benzing finished fourth with a time of 4:11.15.

A total of 1,015 fans attended the meet.

UW-Oshkosh will compete at the Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship (presented by Culver's) next Friday and Saturday (Feb. 25-26) in Platteville. The 13-time WIAC champion Titans finished third with 92 points at 2020 championship. Last year's league meet was canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
