Titans' Second-Place Red Hawk Invitational Finish Features Three Event Titles

Nationally ranked UW-Oshkosh won three events and totaled 25 top-eight finishes to place second among 12 women's track & field teams at the Ripon College Red Hawk Invitational Saturday (Feb. 5) in Ripon.

NCAA Division I member UW-Milwaukee captured the team title with 211 points while UW-Oshkosh, the eighth-ranked program in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association's NCAA Division III Indoor Rating Index, finished second with 103.5.

Other teams in the top-four listings were third-place and Division III member Ripon College with 50.5 points and fourth-place and National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics member Viterbo University with 45.

Winning events for UW-Oshkosh were Alexandria Demco, Riley Kindt and Amelia Lehman.

Demco defeated 38 other contestants in the 800-meter run with her victorious time of 2:11.49 while Kindt surpassed 20 other participants in the long jump with her first-place measurement of 18-8 1/2. Lehman beat 21 other entrants in the mile run with her winning performance of 5:17.83. Kindt also placed second in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.06 seconds and fourth in the high jump with a height of 5-1 1/4.

Demco ranks third nationally in the 800-meter run and Kindt sixth in the long jump and 17th in the 60-meter hurdles following their results on Saturday.

UW-Oshkosh had three other scorers in the long jump as Vanessa Jenneman finished third with a distance of 16-10, Alaina Wagner fourth at 16-9 1/4 and Amanda Starzynski seventh at 16-5 3/4.

The Titans additionally received strong performances in the meet from Emma Warr, Kyra Huber, Cara Volz, Taylor Christensen and Katie Fruth.

Warr placed second in the pole vault with a height of 11-3 3/4, Huber third in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.08 seconds, Volz fourth in the triple jump with a skip of 35-0 1/4 and Christensen and Fruth both fifth with measurements of 9-4 1/4 in the pole vault and 42-8 1/4 in the shot put, respectively. Fruth's distance in the shot put now ranks 24th in Division III this season. 

Finishing sixth for UW-Oshkosh were Andrea Glaz with her sprint of 8.14 seconds in the 60-meter dash, Brenna Masloroff with her toss of 51-7 3/4 in the 20-pound weight throw and Lauren Urban with her time of 11:24.98 in the 3,000-meter run.

UW-Oshkosh's remaining seventh-place results included a pair from Allie Marineau. She earned her listings with measurements of 39-4 in the shot put and 51-0 in the 20-pound weight throw.

Also finishing seventh for the Titans were Elizabeth Hren with her time of 27.10 seconds in the 200-meter dash and Megan Hunt with her leap of 4-7 1/2 in the high jump.

UW-Oshkosh's eighth-place results featured the times of 27.19 seconds in the 200-meter dash from Wagner, 1:05.67 in the 400-meter run from Erika Mullen, 5:48.73 in the mile run from Meygan Benzing and 11:49.87 in the 3,000-meter run from Sydney Fricke.

The Titans' 1,600-meter relay team of Benzing, Lehman, Madison Bertram and Paige Hagner finished eighth with a time of 4:34.11.

UW-Oshkosh will perform at the UW-Whitewater Midwest ELITE Invitational on Saturday (Feb. 12).
