Titans Win Two Events, Place Second At Red Hawk Opener

The UW-Oshkosh women's track & field team returned to competition for the first time since mid-December and finished second at the Ripon College Red Hawk Opener Saturday (Jan. 22) in Ripon.

UW-Oshkosh won two events and tallied 25 top-eight finishes to conclude the 10-team meet with 115 points. St. Norbert College acquired the team title with 140.5 points while Carroll University placed third with 98.5, Lawrence University fourth with 56 and Ripon College fifth with 47.5.

Winning events for the Titans were Riley Kindt and Emma Warr. Kindt won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.19 seconds while Warr finished first in the pole vault with a height of 11-5 3/4. The measurement earned by Warr ranks 20th in the NCAA Division III this indoor season.

UW-Oshkosh counted 29 of its team points in the 20-pound weight throw and 19 in the long jump.

Titan Allie Marineau finished second in the 20-pound weight throw with a distance of 52-9 1/2 while teammates Brenna Masloroff placed third at 50-3 1/2, Elise Deaver fifth at 46-11, Michaela Barrette sixth at 45-8, Katie Fruth seventh at 45-2 1/2 and Bobbi Blahnik eighth at 44-10 1/4. Marineau's mark in the event ranks 17th nationally.

UW-Oshkosh had three placewinners in the long jump as Amanda Starzynski finished second with a leap of 16-5 1/4, Alaina Wagner third at 16-4 1/2 and Vanessa Jenneman fourth at 16-3 3/4.

The Titans also received a second-place time of 2:29.11 in the 800-meter run from Amelia Lehman, third-place height of 5-1 1/4 in the high jump from Kindt and fourth-place performances of 8.19 seconds in the 60-meter dash from Kyra Huber and 40-4 3/4 in the shot put from Fruth.

UW-Oshkosh had fourth other fifth-place finishers – Marineau in the shot put with a distance of 40-0 1/2, Wagner in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.49 seconds, Taylor Christensen in the pole vault with a height of 9-6 1/4 and Megan Hunt in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.99 seconds.

Titan Elizabeth Hren finished sixth in the 400-meter run and seventh in the 60-meter dash with times of 1:05.93 and 8.32 seconds, respectively.

UW-Oshkosh also benefited from Blahnik's sixth-place throw of 39-1 3/4 in the shot put, Jenneman's seventh-place time of 28.06 seconds in the 200-meter dash and Rachel Castelli's eighth-place time of 1:07.63 in the 400-meter run. 

The Titans' 1,600-meter relay squad of Meygan Benzing, Olivia Schwarm, Julia Strasser and Lauren Urban finished eighth with a time of 4:42.80.

UW-Oshkosh competes at the UW-Whitewater "Squig" Converse Invitational on Saturday (Jan. 29).
