Titans Win Two Events During Outdoor Season Debut

Cara Volz and Julie Weber were event winners as the UW-Oshkosh women's track & field team opened its outdoor season Saturday (March 27) at the Carroll University Open in Waukesha.

The outdoor activity was the first for the Titans since May 25 of the 2019 NCAA Division III Championship in Geneva, Ohio.

UW-Oshkosh had 12 top-eight finishers during Saturday's 19-event meet, including Volz who won the triple jump and Weber who placed first in the 100-meter dash. Volz defeated five other contestants with her measurement of 35-3 1/4 while Weber outran 32 other sprinters with her time of 13.16 seconds.

UW-Oshkosh's Morgan Florek placed in three throwing events and Brenna Masloroff two. Florek finished second in both the discus and shot put with measurements of 134-4 and 40-4 3/4, respectively, and fourth in the hammer throw with a distance of 142-2. Masloroff ranked fifth in the shot put with a toss of 39-4 and eighth in the hammer throw with a mark of 138-11.

Titan Sydney Fricke finished third in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 19:58.46 and Erika Mullen and Lauren Urban both fourth with times of 1:03.67 in the 400-meter run and 20:03.06 in the 5,000-meter run, respectively.

UW-Oshkosh also had Kahley Logan finish sixth in the hammer throw with a cast of 139-9 and Taya Fleischman eighth in the shot put with a distance of 37-8 3/4.

The Titans finished fifth in the team scoring with 66 points. St. Norbert College won the 10-team meet with 140 points while UW-Stevens Point placed second with 118, Ripon College third with 84.2857, Carroll University fourth with 75.7857 and Carthage College sixth with 64.5.

UW-Oshkosh competes Friday (April 2) at the UW-Whitewater Rex Foster Twilight Invitational.
