Titans Win Six Events In Season-Opening Meet Against Eagles

The return to play process for the UW-Oshkosh women's indoor track & field team began with six winning performances against defending WIAC champion UW-La Crosse on Saturday (Feb. 6) in Kolf Sports Center. 

UW-Oshkosh, which hadn't competed since last March due to the novel coronavirus pandemic, lost its inaugural meet of the 2021 season to the Eagles by a score of 87-57.

Freshman Riley Kindt placed in three events for the Titans by finishing first in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.04 seconds, second in the high jump with a height of 5-2 1/4 and third in the triple jump with a measurement of 36-9.

UW-Oshkosh tallied all nine points in the shot put as Sydney Thompson won the event with a distance of 44-7 while Morgan Florek finished second at 42-0 1/2, Katie Fruth third at 41-4 1/4 and Brenna Masloroff fourth at 41-1 3/4.

Other event winners for the Titans were Alexandria Demco in the mile run with a time of 5:05.95, Libby Geisness in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:23.78, Lauren Urban in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 11:19.37 and Emma Warr in the pole vault with a leap of 11-1 3/4. Geisness is the reigning WIAC champion in the 800-meter run.

UW-Oshkosh's remaining second-place efforts went to Florek with her distance of 54-2 3/4 in the 20-pound weight throw and Sydney Fricke with her time of 11:48.93 in the 3,000-meter run.

Adding third-place finishes for the Titans were Tricia Cich in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 12:14.20 and Hannah Lohrenz in the mile run with a time of 5:12.46.

Completing UW-Oshkosh's fourth-place listings were Benzing in the mile run with a time of 5:36.39, Thompson in the 20-pound weight throw with a mark of 50-2 3/4 and Mikayla Jackson in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.64 seconds.

The Titans' 1,600-meter relay team of Benzing, Demco, Geisness and Lohrenz contributed a third-place time of 4:14.73.

UW-Oshkosh will compete in a dual meet at UW-Whitewater next Saturday (Feb. 13).
