Titans Win One Event, Finish Fourth At Warhawk Classic

Freshman Libby Geisness won the 800-meter run and ran on a sixth-place relay team as UW-Oshkosh finished fourth among 10 women's track & field programs at the UW-Whitewater Warhawk Classic held Saturday (Feb. 1) in Whitewater.

Geisness defeated 43 other contestants in the 800-meter run with her season-best time of 2:18.62. Her performance is now the event's 18th fastest in the NCAA Division III this indoor season.

In addition to her victory, Geisness also helped Alexandra Demco, Hannah Lohrenz and Lauren Rabe post a sixth-place time of 4:11.13 in the 1,600-meter relay.

UW-Oshkosh's Emma Warr finished third in the pole vault with a height of 11-3 1/2 while Ashton Keene and Sydney Thompson both placed fifth with their results of 10:21.10 in the 3,000-meter run and 41-9 1/4 in the shot put, respectively. 

The Titans had four fifth-place finishes, including a pair by Morgan Florek. Florek earned her listings with measurements of 41-8 3/4 in the shot put and 54-4 3/4 in the 20-pound weight throw.

Taylor Pralle and Mikayla Jackson also finished fifth with their times of 7.93 seconds in the 60-meter dash and 26.55 seconds in the 200-meter dash, respectively.

UW-Oshkosh had two other sixth-place mentions as Amanda Van Den Plas scampered to a time of 10:42.31 in the 3,000-meter run and Cara Volz skipped to a distance of 36-5 1/2.

Finishing seventh for the Titans were Erica Lorenz with 2,788 points in the pentathlon, Allie Marineau with a mark of 51-7 1/4 in the 20-pound weight throw and Melissa Srnka with a time of 2:22.74 in the 800-meter run.

UW-Oshkosh also received eighth-place measurements of 4-10 1/4 in the high jump from Skyler Miller and 35-10 3/4 in the triple jump from Danae Prange.

The Titans finished fourth in the team competition with 60 points.

UW-La Crosse captured the team title with 167 points while University of Chicago (Ill.) placed second with 147.5, UW-Stevens Point third with 77 and St. Norbert College fifth with 53.

UW-Oshkosh will be represented in two meets next Saturday (Feb. 8), the Minnesota State University Ted Nelson Classic in Mankato, Minn., and the Ripon College Red Hawk Invitational in Ripon.
