Reichenberger Selected WIAC’s Top Track Performer

UW-Oshkosh junior sprinter Emily Reichenberger was voted by league coaches as the Track Performer of the Meet at the WIAC Indoor Track & Field Championship (presented by Culver's) held Feb. 24-25 in Menomonie.

Reichenberger won the 60-meter dash and finished second in the 200-meter dash to help UW-Oshkosh place third in the eight-team championship with 103 points.

Reichenberger defeated 18 other runners with her winning time of 7.74 seconds in the 60-meter dash. UW-Stevens Point's Abigail Clement finished second to Reichenberger with a time of 7.78.

In the 200-meter dash, Reichenberger placed second among 21 competitors with a time of 25.40 seconds. Celeste Madda of UW-Whitewater won the race with a time of 25.40.

Reichenberger ranks sixth nationally in the 60-meter dash and ninth in the 200-meter dash with her season-best times of 7.72 and 25.36 seconds, respectively. She is expected to qualify in both events for the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championship that will be held March 10-11 in Naperville, Ill.

UW-Oshkosh has had nine individuals combine to win 11 Track Performer of the Meet awards at the WIAC Indoor Championship, including two-time honorees Laura Hoejs in 1991-92 and Liz Woodworth in 2003-04.

UW-Platteville's Amber Williams was named Field Performer of the Meet from the WIAC Championship, while UW-Stevens Point's Brett Witt was chosen as the league's indoor Coach of the Year.
