Titans Earn Five Top 13 National Marks In Own Invitational

Kristen Linzmeier and Alyssa Ryan were event winners as the UW-Oshkosh women's track & field team finished fourth in its own invitational held Saturday (Feb. 11) in Kolf Sports Center.

Four-time defending WIAC champion UW-La Crosse won the five-team meet with 261.5 points while UW-Whitewater placed second with 94, UW-Stevens Point third with 87.5, UW-Oshkosh fourth with 82 and St. Norbert College fifth with 45.

Linzmeier defeated 31 other contestants in the 800-meter run with her winning time of 2:16.19. Linzmeier's performance ranks as the 13th best in the NCAA Division III this season. Mallory Hall of UW-La Crosse finished second to Linzmeier with a time of 2:16.61 while the Titans' Erica Munyan placed sixth in 2:22.76.

Ryan ousted 19 other participants in the pole vault with her first-place leap of 12-2 3/4. Ryan's height lists as 10th highest in the country this season. UW-La Crosse's Rachel Zastrow placed second to Ryan with a mark of 12-0 3/4.

UW-Oshkosh had a pair of top-eight finishers in the 200-meter dash, long jump, 60-meter hurdles and 20-pound weight throw.

Emily Reichenberger finished second in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.36 seconds while Olivia Seeley placed seventh in 26.62. Reichenberger's time is the seventh fastest in the country.

In the long jump, Karina Marchan recorded a second-place measurement of 18-4 1/4 and Lauren Wrensch a third-place distance of 17-7. Marchan's leap is the 11th best in the nation this season.

The 60-meter hurdles featured Cara Volz finishing third with a time of 9.19 seconds and Marchan fifth in 9.44.

Elizabeth Abhold took second place in the 20-pound weight throw with a mark of 56-10 and Ellie Infante sixth with a toss of 49-0 3/4. Abhold's cast ranks 12th in the country this season and follows her eighth-place listing of 57-5 3/4 established at the Pointer Invitational on Feb. 4.

The Titans also had Seeley finish second in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.86 seconds, Ashton Keene fifth in the 3,000-meter run at 11:00.26, Lindsay Denu seventh in the 400-meter run at 1:01.89 and Michelle Draxler eighth in the mile run at 5:30.24. Seeley's 60-meter dash time is the 17th fastest in the country this season.

UW-Oshkosh hosts its annual Titan Challenge on Saturday (Feb. 18) in Kolf Sports Center.
