Sherry Paces Titans At NCAA Women’s Track & Field Championship

Taylor Sherry claimed her third career indoor All-America laurel and Elizabeth Abhold and Emily Reichenberger earned their first All-America honors as UW-Oshkosh finished 17th with 11 points at the NCAA Division III Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship held Friday (March 11) and Saturday (March 12) in Grinnell, Iowa.

Sherry finished fourth in the 60-meter hurdles, while Abhold and Reichenberger placed sixth in the 20-pound weight throw and 200-meter dash, respectively.

Baldwin Wallace University (Ohio) won its first national team title with 42.2 points. The Yellow Jackets were followed in the team standings by second-place Illinois Wesleyan University with 36 points, third-place Washington University (Mo.) with 31, fourth-place Stevens Institute of Technology (N.J.) with 30 and fifth-place Massachusetts Institute of Technology with 27.

Sherry took fourth place in Saturday's final with a time of 8.72 seconds after winning her preliminary heat on Friday. She was a two-time All-American last year, finishing fourth in the pentathlon (3,462 points) and seventh in the 60-meter hurdles (8.90).

In Saturday's 60-meter hurdle final, Madison Renfro from North Central College (Ill.) claimed top honors with a time of 8.55 seconds.

Abhold reached the final by achieving her best throw of 57-7 in the last round of the preliminaries. Baldwin Wallace University's Kim Gallavan won the 20-pound weight throw with a distance of 62-8.

Reichenberger finished the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.52 seconds, while Daisy Ogede won the event win 24.80 seconds.

Kasey Ederer rounded out UW-Oshkosh's entries at the national meet by finishing 11th in the high jump with a height of 5-5. Gladys Njoku claimed top honors in the event by clearing 5-8 3/4.

UW-Oshkosh, which owns a Division III-record nine team titles, has scored at least 11 points at each of the past 29 national indoor championships. The Titans took first place in 1994-96, 2004-06, 2011 and 2013-14.

A total of 110 institutions were represented at this year's Division III Indoor Championship, including 77 that recorded points.
