Titans Finish Third At Warhawk Classic

Emily Reichenberger and Elizabeth Abhold were multiple place winners for UW-Oshkosh at the Warhawk Women's Track & Field Classic held Saturday (Jan. 30) in Whitewater.

UW-Oshkosh, which owned three event champions, finished third in the team standings with 93.5 points. The University of Chicago (Ill.) won the 11-team meet with 109.5 points, while UW-Whitewater placed a close second with 109.

Rounding out the top six teams were fourth-place UW-Stevens Point with 90 points, fifth-place Wartburg College (Iowa) with 79 and sixth-place St. Norbert College with 65.5.

UW-Oshkosh entered the meet ranked fourth in the NCAA Division III by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association and the University of Chicago eighth.

Reichenberger's 200-meter dash time of 25.99 seconds defeated 53 other runners, including Teylor Jones of Wartburg College who finished second in 26.18. Reichenberger also placed third in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.89 seconds.

Abhold placed in a pair of field events, finishing second in the 20-pound weight throw with a distance of 57-0 and sixth in the shot put with a measurement of 39-1.

The Titans' Karina Marchan was the best of 25 participants in the long jump with a leap of 17-8. UW-Whitewater's LaBreya Johnson took second in the event with a mark of 17-2 3/4.

Taylor Sherry claimed UW-Oshkosh's remaining victory by totaling 3,397 points in the pentathlon. Isabella Weekly of UW-Stevens Point finished second among the event's nine contestants with 2,755 points.

UW-Oshkosh's Hannah Kuenzi placed second in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:35.25 while teammates Leah Rendflesh finished third and Erica Munyan fourth in the 5,000-meter run with times of 18:34.15 and 18:55.25, respectively.

Other third-place finishers for the Titans were Kristen Linzmeier, Alyssa Ryan and Alison Williams. Linzmeier posted a time of 2:19.84 in the 800-meter run, while Ryan recorded a height of 11-1 3/4 in the pole vault and Williams 2,732 points in the pentathlon.

UW-Oshkosh also received a fifth-place distance of 39-1 1/4 in the shot put from Melanie Wichman and a sixth-place time of 8.00 seconds in the 60-meter dash from Olivia Seeley.

Placing seventh for the Titans were Caitlyn McCormick in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.72 seconds and Lauren Wrensch in the long jump with a leap of 16-7.

The Titans will host the UW-Oshkosh Open on Friday (Feb. 4) in Kolf Sports Center.
