Titans Dominate Red Hawks, Vikings In Season Debut

UW-Oshkosh swept the top four finishes in four events to easily win its season-opening women's track & field meet with Lawrence University and Ripon College on Friday (Jan. 15) in Kolf Sports Center.

UW-Oshkosh, ranked fourth in the NCAA Division III by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, captured the team title with 142 points. Ripon College placed second with 43 points and Lawrence University third with 42.

The Titans won 10 of the meet's 14 events, including the mile run, long jump, pole vault and shot put where they owned the top four finishers. UW-Oshkosh owned the top three performers in the triple jump and 20-pound weight throw.

Danica Harrison took first place for UW-Oshkosh in the mile run with a time of 5:23.10. Hannah Kuenzi finished second with a time of 5:23.11, while Erica Munyan placed third at 5:23.12 and Leah Rendflesh fourth at 5:34.59.

In the long jump, the Titans' Karina Marchan leaped to a winning distance of 18-0 1/2. Taylor Sherry finished second with a mark of 17-4 1/2, while Lauren Wrensch listed third at 16-1 and Alison Williams fourth at 15-4 3/4.

UW-Oshkosh's Alyssa Ryan won the pole vault with a height of 11-3, while Megan Leahy followed at 9-9, Margaret Hamann at 9-9 and Amanda Ward at 9-3.

The Titans' Elizabeth Abhold won the shot put with a measurement of 41-4 1/4, while Melanie Wichman placed second at 39-8 3/4, Taylor Sherry third at 36-10 1/2 and Ellie Infante fourth at 34-4 3/4.

The triple jump featured UW-Oshkosh's Leahy winning the event with a skip of 33-6 3/4. Sarah Finn finished second with a mark of 33-0 1/2 and Brenna Martyn third at 31-10.

Abhold recorded her second victory of the meet with a cast of 56-11 1/4 in the 20-pound weight throw. Wichman ranked second with a distance of 49-5 3/4 and Infante third at 46-2 3/4.

UW-Oshkosh had four other event winners as Sherry won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.03 seconds, Kasey Ederer the high jump with a leap of 5-6 1/2, Kristen Linzmeier the 800-meter run with a time of 2:22.06 and Olivia Seeley the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.95 seconds.

Other Titans finishing second were Marchan in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.01 seconds, Seeley in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.52 seconds, Lindsey Denu in the 400-meter run with a time of 1:01.45 and Isabella Tremonti in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:27.91.

Additional UW-Oshkosh third-place results went to Williams in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 9.68 seconds, Gina Pomaville in the 400-meter run with a time of 1:02.75 and Olivia Steinke in the high jump with a leap of 5-3.

Completing UW-Oshkosh's list of fourth-place finishers were Hamann in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.10 seconds, Cammy Garvelink in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:34.41, Ashley Holicek in the 60-meter dash with a time of 8.18 seconds and Caitlyn McCormick in the 200-meter dash with a time of 26.79 seconds.

UW-Oshkosh competes at the North Central College Cardinal Opener next Friday (Jan. 22) in Naperville, Ill.
