Cazzola Named Midwest Region Track Athlete Of The Year
UW-Oshkosh's Christy Cazzola (Jr. • Kaukauna) has been
selected the Midwest Region Track Athlete of the Year by the U.S.
Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Cazzola ranks in the top-10 nationally for three different races.
She ran the second-best time in the NCAA Division III by winning
the Drake Relays 800-meter run in 2:07.44.
At the UW-Platteville Invitational on April 14, Cazzola ran the 5,000 meters in 16:32.26 to break the UW-Oshkosh record by 30 seconds. That performance ranks third in the nation.
Cazzola will run the 800 and 1,500-meter races at the NCAA Division III Championship on May 24-26. Her 1,500-meter time of 4:32.79 earned the 10th seed.
Defending both titles, Cazzola won the 800 and 1,500-meter runs
at the WIAC Championship on May 4-5. She clocked times of 2:08.48
and 4:33.65, respectively.

two winners with Head Coach Chris Schumacher and Assistant Coach
Greg Huffaker.
