Strupp Named WIAC's Top Field Performer
Victories in a pair of throwing events earned UW-Oshkosh's
Breanna Strupp (Jr. • Slinger) the Field Performer of the Meet
Award at the Wisconsin
Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) Women's Outdoor Track
and Field Championship held May 4-5 in Whitewater. The award
was determined by a vote of the league's nine head coaches.
Strupp won competitions in the discus and shot put while finishing
fifth in the hammer throw. She successfully defended her conference
title in the discus with a distance of 160-0. Strupp marked
measurements of 45-11 3/4 in the shot put and 167-1 in the hammer
throw.
The WIAC also named UW-La Crosse's Claire Elliott as its Track
Performer of the Meet and Pat Healy as its Coach of the Year. Healy
received the outdoor coaching award for the seventh time in his
career.
UW-La Crosse scored 185 points to capture the WIAC outdoor title
for the fifth time in six years. With the help of seven first-place
finishes, UW-Oshkosh ranked second in the nine-team meet with 176
points.
