Titans Set for Games Against Pioneers and Lions

OSHKOSH, Wis.—Having won four of their last five games, the UW-Oshkosh Titans women's basketball program continues action with a pair of games this week. The Titans (13-5, 4-4 WIAC) travel to the Pioneers of UW-Platteville (9-10, 2-6 WIAC) on January 25. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. in Platteville.

The Titans will conclude non-conference action on January 27 as the Titans host Finlandia University. The Lions of Finlandia (7-10) and Titans tipoff at 6 p.m. inside Kolf Sports Center.

The Titans and Pioneers met earlier this season, with the Pioneers pulling away for a 60-35 victory over the Titans. The Titans have been road warriors this season, holding a 10-3 record away from Kolf Sports Center.

Outlook on Oshkosh  

The Titans are averaging 62.7 points per game, while holding their opponents to 56.1 points per game. The Titans are one of the strongest offensive teams in the WIAC, going 41.9% from the field. Leading the league in team free throw percentage, the Titans sit at 72.5% of free throws made. On the rebounding side of the game, the Titans are recording 32.4 rebounds per game.

Kayce Vaile leads the Titans with 10.6 points per game and sits inside the top-15 in the WIAC in scoring averages. Jenna Jorgensen and Ava Douglas join Vaile in the top-3 scorers for the Titans, averaging 9.7 and 8.1 points per game. Vaile is second in the league with 8.1 rebounds per game and in field goal percentage at 51%. Sarah Hardwick is No. 15 in the WIAC for rebounds per game, averaging 4.7. Douglas holds the No. 2 spot in free throw percentage in the WIAC, with 83.7% of free throws made.

Previewing Platteville

The Pioneers' Brynlee Nelson (10.9 points), Ella Mackiewicz (10.8 points), and Sarah Mueller (10.4 points) sit inside the top-15 in the WIAC scoring averages. Mackiewicz leads the Pioneers with 5.3 rebounds and is joined by Mueller with 4.5 rebounds per game.

The Pioneers are averaging 60.1 points per game, while holding their opponents to 58.3 points. The Pioneers are averaging 33.9 rebounds, 16.6 turnovers, and 11.4 assists per game. The Pioneers upset the Warhawks of UW-Whitewater in action last week to improve to 2-6 in conference play.

First Look at Finlandia

As of January 23, the Lions are averaging 66.5 points per game, while holding their opponents to 65.1 points per game. The Lions are grabbing 42.4 rebounds per game while adding 14.1 assists per game. From the field, the Lions are shooting 36.2% and 25.3% from behind the 3-point arc. At the free throw line, the Lions are shooting 72.4% and averaging 9.7 made free throws per game.

Natalie Bartle leads the Lions with 20.3 points per game and 6.9 rebounds per game. Katie Lundeen is second on the team in points per game with 12, while Maija Rice sits at 9.9 points per game. Rice, Hannah Whitted, and Lundeen all record five or more rebounds per game for the Lions.
