Lohrenz Named WIAC Cross Country Athlete Of The Year

UW-Oshkosh senior Hannah Lohrenz was chosen as the 2021 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Year by the league's eight head coaches.

Lohrenz competed in six races for the Titans this fall and closed an outstanding season with an All-America performance at the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division III Championship held Nov. 20 in Louisville, Ky. She finished 31st among 293 runners at the meet with a personal-best 6,000-meter time of 21:41.6.

The All-America cross country award was the first for Lohrenz and 47th for the UW-Oshkosh women's cross country program. Lohrenz, the lone WIAC competitor to earn All-America recognition at this year's national meet, was making her second Division III Championship appearance after finishing 185th at the event in 2019.

Lohrenz qualified for this year's Division III Championship after a third-place finish at the North Regional held Nov. 13 in Colfax. Lohrenz secured her listing among the meet's 226 runners by crossing the finish line in a time of 22:07.77.

Lohrenz began her 2021 postseason with a victory at the WIAC Championship held Oct. 30 in Colfax. Lohrenz became the 10th Titan to win a conference women's cross country title when she defeated 81 other contestants with her time of 22:20.5. She previously finished 21st at the league championship in 2019, ninth in 2018 and 45th in 2017.

Lohrenz also placed second at both the Concordia University Wisconsin Ken Weidt Classic held Sept. 11 and Oberlin College (Ohio) Inter-Regional Rumble held Oct. 16 and third at the UW-Eau Claire Blugold Invitational held Oct. 1.

The Hortonville High School graduate owns a 3.414 cumulative grade-point-average as a major in interactive web management.

Lohrenz is the fourth Titan to receive the WIAC Women's Cross Country Athlete of the Year award. Previous UW-Oshkosh award winners were Ayla Mitchell in 2009; Christy Cazzola in 2010, 2011 and 2012; and Cheyenne Moore in 2017.
