Women’s Cross Country Program Honored For Academic Achievement

The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) recognized the UW-Oshkosh women's cross country program for its performance in the classroom during the 2015 season.

Head coach Eamon McKenna's squad was one of 207 teams in the NCAA Division III to end the fall semester with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.10 or better. UW-Oshkosh finished the semester with a 3.308 GPA, while the University of Dubuque (Iowa) compiled a 3.739 mark for the nation's highest GPA.

Other Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (WIAC) programs honored were UW-Eau Claire (3.44), UW-La Crosse (3.384), UW-Platteville (3.27), UW-Stevens Point (3.12), UW-Stout (3.546) and UW-Whitewater (3.342).

UW-Oshkosh had sophomores Hannah Kuenzi, Kristen Linzmeier and Erica Munyan named to the organization's All-Academic Team. All three individuals helped the Titans capture the WIAC title and finish 15th at the NCAA Division III Championship.

Kuenzi, a marketing major who owns a cumulative GPA of 3.797, finished seventh at the WIAC Championship in 2015 and ninth in 2014. She placed 141st at last fall's NCAA Division III Championship.

Linzmeier possesses a cumulative GPA of 3.734 as a kinesiology major. She finished 39th at the WIAC and 244th at the NCAA Division III championships in 2015.

Munyan is a kinesiology major with a cumulative GPA of 3.373. Last fall, she placed 13th at the WIAC and 164th at the NCAA Division III championships.

In order to be eligible for All-Academic recognition, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of least 3.30 and finish in the top 25 percent at their respective regional. A total of 352 student-athletes received All-Academic honors, including 23 from the WIAC.

Abrah Masterson of Cornell College (Iowa) was named Scholar-Athlete of the Year while Williams College (Mass.) was selected Scholar Team of the Year.
