Titans Open Season With Sixth-Place Ranking

Hannah Kuenzi finished eighth among a field of 174 runners as the UW-Oshkosh women's cross country team opened the season with a sixth-place showing at the Midwest Open on Saturday (Sept. 12) in Somers.

In a meet that included competitors from all three NCAA divisions, Kuenzi was the third Division III runner to cross the finish line with her 5,000-meter time of 18:47.

UW-Oshkosh, which had all five of its scoring runners in the top 47, totaled 169 team points.

UW-La Crosse captured the team title with 58 points, while Division II UW-Parkside finished second with 76 points, Division I Northwestern University (Ill.) third with 101, Division II Winona State University (Minn.) fourth with 103 and Division II Michigan Technological University fifth with 141.

UW-Oshkosh also had Kylee Verhasselt place 38th in a time of 19:35, Erica Munyan 40th in 19:39, Isabella Tremonti 55th in 19:57 and Danica Harrison 59th in 20:03.

UW-Parkside's Moriah Palmer earned the individual title with a time of 18:13. Winona State University's Jordan Paschke and Raissa Hansen followed Palmer in second and third places with times of 18:25 and 18:33, respectively.

Illinois Wesleyan University's Erin McCarey, the top-finishing Division III runner, was fourth with a time of 18:3 and UW-Parkside's Lindsay Rogers placed fifth in 18:42.

Other UW-Oshkosh results featured Leah Rendflesh placing 70th in 20:15, Kristen Linzmeier 78th in 20:23, Hannah Thorn 87th in 20:34, Rhea Fiorita 126th in 21:26, Cammy Garvelink 144th in 22:31, Jessica Stamn 147th in 22:37, Lauren McMicking 161st in 23:27, Allie Broeniman 165th in 24:07, Betsy Gray 166th in 24:20 and Taylor Lindblad 170th in 25:09.

UW-Oshkosh travels to Green Lake next Saturday (Sept. 19) to compete against Alverno and Ripon colleges.
