Tremonti Runs To Victory At UW-Oshkosh Open

Isabella Tremonti ran to a first-place finish as the UW-Oshkosh women's cross country team swept the top four individual places during a 20-runner race the Titans hosted Friday (Oct. 23) at the Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne.

Tremonti defeated her competition in the 6,000-meter race by 65 seconds. She recorded a time of 24:00, while UW-Oshkosh's Rhea Fiorita placed second in 25:05, Jessica Stamn third in 25:41 and Taylor Lindblad fourth in 26:18.

UW-Stevens Point's Emily Matthys finished fifth with a time of 26:25.

UW-Oshkosh also had Lauren McMicking rank ninth in 26:46, Betsy Gray 10th in 26:46 and Allie Broeniman 11th in 26:47.

UW-Oshkosh took first place in the team competition with 19 points, while UW-Whitewater finished second with 55 and UW-Stevens Point third with 60.

The Titans, who competed in the UW-Oshkosh Open without several of their top runners, will host the 38th Annual WIAC Women's Cross Country Championship next Saturday (Oct. 31) at the Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne.
