Titans Finish 10th At AAE Invitational

UW-Oshkosh placed 10th among 46 women's cross country teams in the Division III Pre-National edition of the AAE Invitational held Saturday (Oct. 17) at the Lake Breeze Golf Club in Winneconne.

This year's four-race event, hosted by UW-Oshkosh, featured 1,404 runners from 143 collegiate and club programs, which hailed from 13 states – Georgia Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New York, Ohio, Oregon, Texas, Virginia and Wisconsin.

UW-Oshkosh had four runners finish in the top 82 to place 10th in the team standings with 342 points.

Washington University (Mo.), ranked fifth in the NCAA Division III by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, won the meet with 136 points. The Bears had each of their five point-scoring runners finish in the top 55.

Thirteenth-ranked Willamette University (Ore.) placed second with 165 points, followed by 13th-ranked University of Chicago (Ill.) in third with 201 points, 10th-ranked Hope fourth with 259 and 27th-ranked Emory University (Ga.) fifth with 265.

Rounding out the top 10 teams were 16th-ranked Rochester Institute of Technology (N.Y.) in sixth place with 269 points, ninth-ranked St. Lawrence University (N.Y.) seventh with 270, 26th-ranked UW-Eau Claire eighth with 308, 30th-ranked University of St. Thomas (Minn.) ninth with 337 and UW-Oshkosh 10th.

Hannah Kuenzi paced the Titans by finishing the 6,000-meter course in an 18th-place time of 21:48.

The Titans' Erica Munyan placed 54th with a time of 22:34, while Danica Harrison finished 69th in 22:43, Kylee Verhasselt 82nd in 22:51 and Cheyenne Moore 119th in 23:16.

UW-Oshkosh also had Leah Rendflesh finish 130th in 23:18, Courtney Holland 181st in 23:44, Isabella Tremonti 257th in 24:22, Rhea Fiorita 258th in 24:23 and Hannah Thorn 295th in 24:57.

St. Lawrence University's Megan Kellogg bested the field of 414 runners to win the individual title with a time of 21:11.

UW-Eau Claire's Lucy Ramquist placed second individually with a time of 21:16, while Willamette University's Olivia Mancl finished third in 21:17, UW-Stout's Kathleen Thorn fourth in 21:23 and Calvin College's (Mich.) Lauren Strohbehn fifth in 21:23.4.

The Titans host the UW-Oshkosh Open on Friday (Oct. 23) at the Lake Breeze Golf Club. The facility will also host two other major collegiate cross country meets this fall – the WIAC Championship on Oct. 31 and the NCAA Division III Championship on Nov. 21.
