
Titans Place Fourth At Roy Griak Invitational
Hannah Kuenzi placed sixth in the individual competition as the UW-Oshkosh women's cross country team finished fourth at the Roy Griak Invitational held Saturday (Sept. 27) in Falcon Heights, Minn.
UW-La Crosse, which had three runners finish in the top 10, captured the team title with 60 points. The University of St. Thomas (Minn.) finished second in the 20-team meet with 69 points, while St. Olaf College (Minn.) placed third with 76, UW-Oshkosh fourth with 107 and Wartburg College (Iowa) fifth with 121.
The rest of the top 10 teams were sixth-place Macalester College (Minn.) with 164 points, seventh-place Augsburg College (Minn.) with 236, eighth-place Lawrence University with 239, ninth-place Bethel University (Minn.) with 252 and 10th-place The College of St. Scholastica (Minn.) with 280.
Kuenzi completed the 6,000-meter course in a time of 23:45. Kyle Verhasselt, Cheyenne Moore, Leah Rendflesh and Sonny Jenkins assisted her in compiling UW-Oshkosh's team score.
Verhasselt finished 14th among the meet's 300 runners with a time of 24:19, while Moore placed 19th in 24:27, Rendflesh 26th in 24:42 and Jenkins 53rd in 25:09.
UW-La Crosse's Laura Mead won the individual title with a time of 22:39. Erin Statz of the University of St. Thomas finished second in 22:52, while Kimber Meyer of Macalester College placed third in 23:16, Annika Halverson of Bethel University fourth in 23:31 and Jorden Johnson of St. Olaf College fifth in 23:40.
UW-Oshkosh also had Isabella Tremonti finish 62nd with a time of 25:20, Danica Harrison 75th in 25:36, Rhea Fiorita 76th in 25:42, Michaela Welsh 77th in 25:44, Tess Harvatine 79th in 25:47, Betsy Gray 84th in 25:57 and Courtney Holland 87th in 25:59.
Other Titans running at the meet were Emma Link, Jessica Stamn and Cammy Garvelink. Link finished 118th with a time of 26:38, while Stamn placed 149th in 27:21 and Garvelink 200th in 28:30.
UW-Oshkosh competes at the prestigious Notre Dame Invitational on Friday (Oct. 3) in South Bend, Ind.
