Titans Finish Second At Warhawk Invitational
Christy Cazzola (Sr. • Kaukauna) won the individual title by 14 seconds to lead the UW-Oshkosh women's cross country team to a second-place finish at the Warhawk Invitational held Saturday (Sept. 15) in Whitewater.
Cazzola, a two-time NCAA Division III All-American, completed the 6,000-meter course in a time of 22:13. Liga Blyholder, running unattached, placed second among the meet's 125 runners with a time of 22:27.
NCAA Division I University of Wisconsin captured the team title with 20 points. The Badgers owned six of the meet's top 10 runners, including Rebecca Stoebe who finished third in 22:49. Wisconsin also had Kristen Yarows place fourth in 23:01 and Jessie Sykes fifth in 23:04.
UW-Oshkosh scored 47 points to easily finish second in the 10-team meet. Host UW-Whitewater placed third with 90 points, followed by UW-Platteville in fourth with 154 and Wisconsin Lutheran College fifth with 157.
UW-Oshkosh's team scoring also included McKenzie Kelly's (Sr. • New Richmond) 17th-place time of 24:02, Taylor Bauer's (Fr. • Fort Atkinson) 23rd-place time of 24:24, Allie DeBaker's (Jr. • Green Bay) 24th-place mark of 24:25 and Danica Harrison's (Fr. • Arpin) 25th-place score of 24:26.
Other UW-Oshkosh results featured Morgan Engelhart (Jr. • Oregon) finishing 36th in 25:09, Kendal Wormuth (Fr. • Wittenberg) 39th in 25:32, Lauren Reigel (Jr. • Greenville) 41st in 25:37, Macy Egan (Fr. • New London) 44th in 25:47 and Michelle Murray (Jr. • Waunakee) 45th in 25:57.
UW-Oshkosh's next competition is scheduled for the Notre Dame Invitational on Sept. 28 in South Bend, Ind.
