Titans List Third At UW-Oshkosh Open

Gabrhael Walman (So. • Franklin) and Michelle Murray (So. • Waunakee) posted top-16 finishes to lead UW-Oshkosh at its Women’s Cross Country Open on Friday (Oct. 21) in Winneconne.

NCAA Division I UW-Madison dominated the event with eight of the top nine runners. Following the Badgers’ 16 points, UW-Stevens Point totaled 62 for second place and UW-Oshkosh 98 for third. UW-Platteville came in fourth at 109, along with Finlandia University (Mich.) at 197 and Alverno College at 209.

The Titans rested many of their top runners in preparation for next week’s WIAC Championship. Walman came in the 15th position with a time of 25:12, while Murray was right behind with a mark of 25:21.

Kim Falk (Fr. • Poynette) used 26:00 to earn 22nd place, as Camille Davis (Sr. • Green Bay) clocked a 26:27 and Carlyn Brown (Sr. • Belleville) a 26:29 to finish 26th and 27th. UW-Oshkosh also had Jenny Dedolph (So. • Tigerton) take 38th at 28:09 and Alli Weil (Jr. • Cottage Grove) place 39th at 28:12.

Dani Fischer paced the 48-runner field with a time of 21:58. She was followed by teammates Liga Blyholder (22:08), Colleen McNulty (22:11) and Jessie Sykes (22:42). UW-Platteville’s Ann Tank rounded out the top five with a score of 22:51.

UW-Oshkosh competes at the WIAC Championship on Saturday (Oct. 29) in Menomonie.
