Titans Pick Up Conference Victory Against UW-Stevens Point

APPLETON, Wis- UW-Oshkosh women's tennis secured a 6-3 win over UW-Stevens Point on Friday (Oct. 13).

The match was previously scheduled to take place at Kolf Sports Center Outdoor Tennis Courts but was moved to Fox Cities Racquet Club in Appleton due to poor weather.

The Titans (7-3, 2-3 WIAC) claimed two of the three doubles over UW-Stevens Point (4-4, 1-4 WIAC). Ella Nguyen and Courtney Carpenter outscored Quinlyn Mack and Chloe Leithold 8-6 in doubles match No. 2 while Jameson Gregory and Kayla Gibbs claimed the No. 3 doubles with an 8-7 victory against Brooklynn Steier and Abigail Ashley. In the doubles set No. 1 Pointers Tristin Jantz and Jordan Scharf defeated Olivia Pethan and Alysa Pattee with a 6-8 score.

In singles contest No. 1, Jantz defeated Pethan (2-6, 3-6) and Pattee dropped the No. 2 flight to Mack (4-6, 6-2). Nguyen claimed the win pushing the No. 3 singles to three sets against Scharf (6-1, 5-7, 12-10). Gregory took the No. 4 singles verse Leithold (6-3, 6-0), while Jenna Noble claimed the win against Steier (6-4, 6-4) in singles No. 5, and Gibbs pushed the No. 6 matchup to three sets to take the victory (2-6, 6-4, 10-6).

Titans return to action at the Kolf Sports Center Outdoor Tennis Courts on Sunday (Oct. 15) against UW-Stout. The first serve is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. UW-Oshkosh is currently 28-11 against UW-Stout since first meeting in 1985.
