Blugolds Conquer Titans

UW-Eau Claire won its fifth straight Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference women's tennis match with a 9-0 victory over UW-Oshkosh Saturday (Oct. 16) at the Kolf Sports Center Outdoor Tennis Courts.

UW-Oshkosh obtained its best results at No. 1 doubles and the three highest flights of the singles competition.

Jenna Nolde and Michelle Spicer represented the Titans at No. 1 doubles and lost an 8-2 decision to Samantha Fuchs and Clare Palen.

UW-Eau Claire (6-1, 5-1 WIAC) won the other two doubles contests by 8-0 scores as Alexa Brooks and Morgan Nelson defeated Alyssa Pattee and Hannah Stitt in the second flight while Sophie Geske and Madison Magnani ousted Angie Carini and Alessandra Rivera in the third.

In singles play, UW-Oshkosh's Spicer lost a 6-0, 6-3 verdict to Brooks in the first flight.

The Titans (1-7, 0-5 WIAC) also had Pattee lose a 6-2, 6-1 outcome to Fuchs at No. 2 singles and Nolde a 6-1, 6-3 result to Sydney Pressler at No. 3.

UW-Eau Claire went the minimum distance during the remaining three singles contests as Morgan Dekan, Elena Bourget and Tea Armstrong all won by 6-0, 6-0 scores. Dekan defeated Stitt in the third flight while Bourget ousted Rivera in the fifth and Armstrong conquered Jade Schwichow in the sixth.

UW-Oshkosh closes the home portion of its 2021-22 fall schedule with Sunday's (Oct. 17) matches at the Kolf Sports Center Outdoor Tennis Courts against UW-Stout and Marian University. The Titans will battle UW-Stout at 9 a.m. and Marian University at 3 p.m.
