Women’s Tennis Program Earns Team, Individual Academic Awards

The UW-Oshkosh women's tennis program once again received recognition from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association for its success in the classroom.

UW-Oshkosh was named an ITA All-Academic Team for the 2020-21 school year as its eight team members combined for a 3.314 grade-point average. It was the second straight All-Academic Team award for the Titans and third in the past five years.

Nearly 200 NCAA Division III schools were recognized as an All-Academic Team for the 2020-21 academic year, including UW-Oshkosh, UW-La Crosse, UW-Stout and UW-Whitewater from the WIAC.

Schools must achieve at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA to be named an All-Academic Team. Every student-athlete listed on each school's eligibility roster is factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year.

In addition to the team being recognized, UW-Oshkosh's Courtney Salisbury, Michelle Spicer and Hannah Stitt were all named ITA Scholar-Athletes for the 2020-21 academic year. Spicer was named a Scholar-Athlete for the second consecutive season.

Salisbury, a junior, compiled a perfect 4.0 GPA this past academic year. The 2018 Kenosha Tremper High School graduate owns a 3.383 cumulative GPA as an elementary education major. Salisbury is a two-time member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll.

Spicer, a junior, tallied a 3.561 GPA this past academic year. The 2018 Milwaukee Lutheran High School graduate owns a 3.258 cumulative GPA as a kinesiology major. Spicer is a two-time member of the WIAC Scholastic Honor Roll.

Stitt, a freshman, registered a 3.714 GPA this past academic year. The 2020 Baldwin-Woodville High School graduate owns a 3.714 cumulative GPA as a nursing major.

UW-Oshkosh's three Scholar-Athletes were among nearly 1,600 recognized from NCAA Division III schools, including 25 others from the WIAC.

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete mention a player must be a varsity letter winner, register a GPA of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) during the current academic year, and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters.
