Titans End Regular Season With Loss To Blugolds

The UW-Oshkosh women's tennis team concluded the regular-season portion of its 2020-21 schedule with a 9-0 Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference loss to UW-Eau Claire on Wednesday (April 21) in Eau Claire.

UW-Oshkosh suffered defeat in two hard-fought singles battles, including Maddie Toboyek's 7-5, 6-4 loss to Lindsey Henderson in the second flight. Titan Michelle Spicer lost her No. 1 singles contest by a 6-2, 6-4 result to Elaina Franta.

UW-Eau Claire's four remaining individual victories featured 6-1, 6-0 wins by Alexa Brooks over Hannah Stitt in the fourth flight, Morgan Nelson over Madeline Beck in the fifth and Sydney Presler over Angie Carini in the sixth. Blugold Emily Cooper won her No. 3 singles contest with a 6-1, 6-1 decision over Courtney Salisbury.

UW-Oshkosh's best result during the doubles competition occurred in the first flight, where Spicer and Toboyek lost an 8-3 verdict to Franta and Henderson.

The No. 2 doubles scuffle had UW-Eau Claire's Brooks and Cooper defeat Carini and Salisbury, 8-2.

UW-Eau Claire won all eight games at No. 3 doubles as Nelson and Natalie Girard ousted Beck and Stitt.

UW-Oshkosh (0-7, 0-6 WIAC) and UW-Eau Claire (9-4, 5-1) will exchange serves again on Saturday (April 24) when the two programs meet in Whitewater during the first round of the WIAC Championship.
