Titans Overpowered By Blue

Wellesley College (Mass.) won 24 of 28 games in doubles play and captured all six singles contests in straight sets as it outscored the UW-Oshkosh women's tennis team, 9-0, on Monday (March 25) in Orlando, Fla.

The Blue (6-3) established the tone early with 8-1 wins by Justine Huang and Michaela Markwart at No. 1 doubles and Rosanne Hu and Michelle Shen at No. 3. Huang and Markwart defeated Alyssa Leffler and Michelle Spicer of the Titans while Hu and Shen ousted Kelley Hodyl and Ashlee Polena.

Wellesley College completed the sweep of the doubles competition with the 8-2 victory recorded by Selina Peng and Libby Chang over Samantha Koppa and Hannah Peters in the second flight.

UW-Oshkosh (5-5) received its best individual results from Spicer in the fourth flight and Polena in the sixth. Spicer lost a 7-5, 6-2 decision to Cinji Lee while Polena dropped a 6-3, 6-3 verdict to Abigail Schleichkorn.

Wellesley College took the top three singles contests, including Huang's 6-3, 6-2 triumph over Hodyl in the first flight. The Blue also had Korina Hernandez defeat Peters, 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2 singles and Lily Chu oust Koppa, 6-0, 6-2 at No. 3.

UW-Oshkosh concludes its four-match trip to Orlando with Tuesday's (March 26) contests against George Fox University (Ore.) and St. Olaf College (Minn.).
