Titans Assemble Easy Win Over Pointers

Alyssa Leffler and Michelle Spicer dominated their singles and doubles opponents as the UW-Oshkosh women's tennis team cruised to an 8-1 victory over UW-Stevens Point on Thursday (Oct. 4) in Stevens Point.

Leffler and Spicer aligned to win their No. 1 doubles contest by an 8-1 score over Leah Hollander and Kaylee Woelfel before each won their singles challenge by convincing results. Leffler was a 6-0, 6-1 winner over Hollander at No. 1 singles while Spicer was a 6-0, 6-0 victor over Woelfel at No. 3 singles.

UW-Oshkosh (4-2, 2-2 WIAC) claimed its remaining two doubles victories by 8-1 results as well. The Titans received wins from Samantha Koppa and Jenna Peterson over Anna Dobbe and Angie Hernandez in the second flight and Monica Micoliczyk and Ashlee Polena over Lea Beckman and Rebecca Goska in the third.

UW-Oshkosh, which has won 21 of its last 28 matches against UW-Stevens Point, also collected individual victories of 6-0, 6-2 from Koppa in the second flight and Ireland Slattery in the sixth. Koppa defeated Dobbe while Slattery ousted Goska.

Polena gave the Titans a victory at No. 5 singles with her 7-5, 6-3 decision over Beckman.

The No. 4 singles contest went to UW-Stevens Point (2-9, 0-4 WIAC) as Hernandez defeated Micoliczyk, 7-6 (6), 6-1.

UW-Oshkosh is off until it travels to Western Wisconsin for matches at UW-Stout on Friday (Oct. 12) and UW-Eau Claire on Saturday (Oct. 13).
