Warhawks Overpower Titans

Five-time defending WIAC champion UW-Whitewater dominated singles action as it rolled to a 9-0 victory over the UW-Oshkosh women's tennis team on Tuesday (Oct. 2) at the Kolf Sports Center Complex.

UW-Whitewater (8-0/4-0 WIAC) captured 72 of the 84 games in singles play, including Megan Kasten's 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Megan Etten (Jr. • Howard) in the fourth flight.

The Warhawks also received 6-1, 6-1 victories from Sydney Divelbiss over Preslee Nolte (So. • Warren, N.J.) in the first flight, Alexandra Bayliss over Morgan Counts (Jr. • Oshkosh) in the second and Jackie Vitale over Valerie Langkau (Jr. • Oshkosh) in the third.

UW-Whitewater concluded its individual activity with 6-1, 6-2 wins from Lauren Aguilar and Abby Day. Aguilar defeated Erica Van Riper (So. • Waukesha) at No. 5 singles, while Day ousted Karlie Laveau (So. • Waukesha) at No. 6 singles.

UW-Oshkosh (7-3/1-2 WIAC) put up its best fight in the second and third flights of doubles play. The Titans lost both contests by 8-4 scores as Kasten and Vitale topped Counts and Van Riper in the second flight, while Aguilar and Kelly Foster trimmed Langkau and Laveau in the third.

UW-Whitewater's final victory of the match was an 8-1 triumph by Bayliss and Divelbiss over Etten and Nolte at No. 1 doubles.

UW-Oshkosh visits UW-Stout on Friday (Oct. 5).
